Secret Recipe White Dark Chocolate Cheese

When I asked a staff what's in it she said, dark and white chocolate. That's two of my favorites. So I bought a slice to try.

Back at home I was anxious to try it. But guessed what, she forgot to tell me there's a strong coffee layer in there too. Bummer!

All night I was palpitating because of it. As coffee interferes with one of the meds I'm taking.

For those who love coffee, they might like this too. But I didn't enjoy this at all as all I can eat was the white chocolate cheesecake part and the chocolate crust which were just half of the cake.

That's the problem when staff are not familiar with their products.

On my way out of Robinsons Place Supermarket, I passed by Cheesecake Melliza and saw the Two-Tone Bars, apparently a new product.

The seller told me they're made of dark and white chocolate, two of my favorites. I immediately bought a pack to try.

They weren't what I expected them to be. They were just sweet bars. No distinction in taste between the dark and white chocolate, or anything. All I can taste was sweetness after sweetness. Sugar after sugar.

Max Brenner Deep Dark Truffle Cake

Layers of chocolate mousse, sponge cake and cereal/nougat crust

This is not the type of cake that you'll miss eating or one that you won't forget and crave for constantly.
I'm not saying that it's not good, cos it is. Just that it didn't leave a mark on me. It's better than their S'mores though. The chocolate mousse layer even resembled a Selecta chocolate ice cream in taste and consistency (when the ice cream is left for a while at room tempt) and was too dark it even tasted like coffee (or maybe it does have coffee in it). The sponge cake was soft, while the crust was a mixture of cereal and nougat. I don't understand the choice of that for the crust though, cos it doesn't jive with the rest of the layers.

Jipan Mochi Mochi Donut and Mini Green Tea Croissant

When in Glorietta, I always drop by Jipan to see what's new. That afternoon there were quite a number of new Japanese pastries. But I just tried two.

I like mochi, so I asked about their Mochi Mochi Donut. The staff told me that they used rice flour for the donut so that they wouldn't have to fry it. They made somewhat of a healthier donut version. They baked it instead of fried.

I don't like donuts that much as I find them too sinful and sweet and not worth the calories. But when I tasted Jipan's mochi mochi donut, I didn't feel any guilt at all. It wasn't oily or too sweet like the usual donuts.

Also, it has more than enough chocolate coating and the chocolate tasted so good. It wasn't that sweet too and the staff was right when she said that it won't be oily since it's baked.

I also bought Mini Green Tea Croissant with white chocolate.

I love green tea so I always try anything with green tea.

The croissant has the authentic green tea taste sans the bitter taste at the end. If you're hoping to find a strip of white chocolate inside the croissant like I did, you'll be disappointed, cos the white chocolate was already mixed with the green tea.

Sakae Sushi

Last Sunday, we had dinner at Sakae Sushi in Robinsons Place Ermita.

My brother-in-law had the Sushi Buffet, which for P399 also includes hot house tea or iced tea.

My mother and my niece both had the Tempura Bento - with chicken yakitori and assorted tempura (shrimp, fish, crab), miso soup, rice and a big serving of their tempura dipping sauce

and Lychee Shake for drinks.

While I had the Chicken Teriyaki Bento with Fish Tempura,

- I like the teriyaki, the tempura tasted okay too but the fish inside was so thin, like film thin

and Green Mango Shake.

My sister's Pork Donburi was good and also my brother's Yakiniku Don. They both finished their orders up to the last morsel of rice.

We all liked our orders and were planning on coming back this February, when my sister from SG comes home for a visit .

P.S. Thinking about it, they forgot to give us the watermelon slices for our bento orders.

Red Mango Green Tea Waffles

After my fried and salty meal/snack at Tater's, I went to Red Mango a couple of floors down, to try their Green Tea Waffle.

I chose to have it with green tea yogurt too. It's topped with red beans and has whipped cream on the side.

I like their green tea yogurt, red beans and whipped cream. The green tea waffles were just too subtle that I can't taste the green tea in it. But every now and then when I get to taste the green tea, I like it.

Taters Fishy Friday

Whenever I'm in the mall, which is almost everyday, I always buy Taters popcorn (either plain or white cheddar). I were to buy the same last Friday when I saw their Fishy Friday Promo.

When you buy a Fish Fillet Ole! Meal for P155, you'll get a Minor League Fish and Chips for free.

I bought a meal to try.

I chose white cheddar popcorn as side for my ole! meal and white cheddar chips for my fish and chips' chips.

Both the fish fillet ole! sandwich and the fish were okay. Not my favorite but just okay.

For the chips, I should've just stuck to plain chips or nachos, as the white cheddar chips were extremely salty.

Would I buy that meal again? Probably yes. If I want something salty and fried every now and then, I already know where to go.

Goldilocks Brownie Pops

I was on line at Goldilocks with my usual Triple Chocolate Brownie at hand when I saw the Brownie Pops.

They are chocolate-covered brownies that you can also decorate any way you want.

They tasted like their Triple Chocolate Brownie too, so nothing's new here, just that they looked different and cute when decorated.

Goldilocks Black Velvet

I wanted Chocolate Sansrival but since they don't have that I just chose between the Black Velvet and Chocolate Mousse.

A staff recommended the Black Velvet. He said it's better than their Chocolate Mousse. I believed him and bought a whole Black Velvet.

I didn't like it. Almost everything in the cake wasn't good. I just like 2 things, the chocolate shavings and the weird almost jelly like film chocolate coating. But everything else was bad and didn't work well together, and even alone. Even my niece who eats almost anything with gusto, just took a couple of bites of this and moved to the Brownie Pops which she and my sister loved.

Christmas in Kuala Lumpur

I spent the entire christmas week in Malaysia. This was my first christmas outside of the Phils. I didn't know what to expect. I thought I'll be lonely there as most of my family members are in the Phils. But no, I enjoyed every minute of my stay there.

I arrived a couple of days before christmas. I spent those days sight-seeing and shopping. Doing mostly what tourists do.

I started my first afternoon in Malaysia at a chocolate shop,

then at KL Tower. I had a snack of sweet corn, bought a lot of souvenirs ( I collect picture frames and miniature landmarks of the country I visited) and had an afternoon tea at the revolving restaurant.

Then I went from one mall to another, having the time of my life shopping.

I just stopped for dinner at an Indian restaurant. I had naan with chicken tandoori and the works, and hot horlicks for drinks.

Then it was shopping time again. I made Suria KLCC as my last stop as the Petronas Towers were just walking distance from there.

The two towers were a sight to behold especially at night when they were all lighted up. I was really in awe. I love looking at the two towers that I can do it all night. I went back to the hotel almost midnight. I went back to a turned down bed with snacks of blueberry cheesecake bites.

I did the same thing again for the succeeding days. Shopping. Eating. Shopping. Eating. Passed by Petronas Towers morning, noon and night. Come back to a turned down bed with a different midnight snack.

December 24 I spent at Batu Cave,

Burger King for a pit stop,

and Genting Highlands. The trek up Genting was like the trek up to Baguio.

The travel was long, cold and steep, though not as long, cold and steep as Baguio's.

I tried almost all that Genting offered. From rides (scary, death-defying ones, and relaxing one like the Gondola), even extras like the Sky Diving and Snow World. I just found it cute that they give free yogurt ice cream to those who enter Snow World. Compared to the Snow World in Star City, it was colder there in Genting. And you can play in the snow.

After genting I went back to KL Tower's revolving restaurant. Then to the malls to shop.

Stopped for dinner at a Korean restaurant.

Then shopping again,

before stopping at Starbucks for christmas eve dinner. I was still full from dinner that I just had snacks for christmas eve. I had a blueberry cream cheese muffin that was so, so, so good and big and a grande green tea latte.

A lot of people were outside that night. Flocking at one side of the street looking at the screen countdown to christmas. I stopped until the clock turned to 0 and it's christmas. The atmosphere along the streets of KL that night was festive and happy.

For turned down at the hotel the snack was gingerbread cookies.

The Cookie Museum

While walking around Esplanade, I saw the shop. It looked Victorian and very classy and inviting, that I went inside to have a look at what they sell.

They offer teas, teacakes and cakes, mostly infused with liqueur. A perfect place for an afternoon tea. But since I was still full from lunch, I just sampled their assorted cookies for sale.

This flavor is available for a limited time only. They are like pineapple tarts, which I also happen to like.

A tin costs around 50-60sgd. Expensive but definitely worth it. Just the smell alone can satiate me.

Mrs Fields Cookie Dough Delights

I saw these when I was buying cookies.
It's on introductory offer. When I opened the package at home it didn't look appealing anymore. The chocolate has melted and the cookie dough chocolate had stuck together. I wasn't able to see how they look per piece like on the box. But I did like the taste. I just don't like that the chocolate melted that way and even stuck to the wrapper. I just hope they'll come up with a different packaging and a different way of presenting it, like maybe adding a separator so that the cookies would not stick together, and they should also do something with their chocolate coating. That it should not melt that easily.

Chips Ahoy Chunky

When I saw the photo of cookies with chunks of milk and white chocolate chips, I said to myself, I definitely should buy one. Chunks of chocolate are my weakness.
At home I got disappointed with my first bite. It was a crispy cookie. I don't like crispy cookies. I like them soft and chewy. But I like that they definitely have chunks of chocolate on and in each cookie.
Since I was microwaving pieces of Sugar Bowl Brownie Bites, I added chips a hoy cookies too to the batch.
Surprisingly I like it warmed. It has softened the crispy cookies and also melted the chunks of chocolate. Love.

Keebler Soft Batch Chocolate Chip Cookies

I have read that if you want soft, almost home baked cookies, that you should try Keebler. So when I saw them next to the chips ahoy, I bought a pack to try.
I have also read on the package that if you want a freshly baked cookie feel that you should microwave it on high for 10-15 seconds. I tried both, just out of the package and warmed for a few seconds.
It did gave it a freshly baked feel when warmed and the 4-5 chunks of chocolate on each cookies have melted. And just out of the box the cookies were definitely soft and with chunks of chocolates in it. I like how soft the cookies were and that it had a lot of chocolate chunks in it. What I don't like was that it was very sweet, almost like Fig Newtons.

For me the perfect cookie has the taste of chips ahoy chunky, the softness of keebler soft batch and the chocolate chunks of both.

Chef d' Angelo Eat All You Can

For dinner that same day, we head over Chef d' Angelo and tried their buffet (eat all you can offer).

For P150 you can have unlimited soup, salad, pizza and pasta. If you want unlimited iced tea just add P50 and P125 for unlimited chicken.

The soup and salad was just okay, the pasta has just two choices, red and white, and it's just sauce, no meat, mushrooms or anything. But the pizza was delicious, I mean the pizza toppings on their assorted pizza ( margherita, hawaiian, supreme) cos the crust was just ordinary.
For 150 I think it's a good deal. You'll pay more than that for just a few slices of pizza. But for just P150 you get to eat cream of mushroom soup, unlimited salad creations (with potato salad), white and red pasta and 3 or more pizza choices.

The Chicken Rice Shop 2

Last Sunday the whole family went out to buy Christmas gifts. We went out early and ate lunch at the mall.
Since they haven't yet tried The Chicken Rice Shop, I suggested we eat there.

Most of them had the regular size (1/4) Roast Chicken, which comes with soup and hainanese rice. My brother had the Honey BBQ Chicken, while my niece and I both ordered the Hainanese Chicken Rice.

Compared to the Roast, the Hainanese has a subtle taste. Very light taste but heavy on the tummy. My brother-in-law even favored the Hainanese over the Roast.

We also ordered Nyonya Pai Tee, which was like a vegetable lumpia with chicken, but on a crispy pastry shell.

This was very tasty and we like the sweet and spicy dipping sauce.

The Honey BBQ Chicken Noodle was very light in taste and the noodles used were very thin.

For drinks we had the Kuching 3 Layer Tea, their best seller.

It's layer of palm sugar, tea and milk. It's like Teh Tarik but a cold version. And also Grass Jelly aka (also known as) black gulaman.

For dessert we ordered a lot of their Kacang best seller, the Ais Belanda.

It's a kachang with palm sugar, coconut milk, guyabano puree and ground peanuts.

Since we ordered a lot of this and they didn't come simultaneously, we were able to compare its taste. One taste differently from the other. The first one to arrive didn't taste that good that I tried to change the rest to chendol, but weren't able to since they were just putting finishing touches on the guyabano. But the second one and the rest were very good. The guyabano wasn't out of place with the palm sugar, coconut milk, peanuts and ice. Actually it tasted pretty good. Even my niece and brother-in-law liked it.

Starbucks Molten Lava Cake

After our Queens at Bollywood dinner and Pinkberry dessert, it was now movie and snack time for us (my friend and I).

I can't think of what to order among Starbucks Warm Chocolate Chip, Triple Decker and Molten Lava Cake that I just let the barista decide.

She recommended the Molten Lava Cake. She said that it was the best among the three especially when warmed and topped with whipped cream.

I bought just that with a Grande Green Tea Latte (without the classic syrup). While my friend had Tater's White Cheddar Popcorn and Coke Zero (which they were handing out for free for M:I4 moviegoers).

I like the middle part of the Lava Cake with the caramel and ganache but don't like the rest as they're moist but clumpy. It's also a very sweet cake. My first time to have a sore throat because of sweets.

I love the movie though, especially Tom's stunts. The Lava Cake, not so much.

After walking around Greenbelt after our Bollywood dinner, I told my friend we try Pinkberry. He's not a fan of yogurt that I told him to sample them first and just order when he liked what he tried. He sampled Watermelon, Original (too sour for him) and Chocolate.
Out of the three he liked the Chocolate which he had sans toppings.

The chocolate was very sweet and doesn't have even the slightest taste of yogurt. Maybe that's why my friend loved it.

While I on the other hand sampled Green Tea and Chocolate. I found the chocolate too rich, thick and sweet that I ordered Green Tea with Heath Bar Pieces and Brownie Bites.

I love my order. I love how the green tea was just mildly sweet and sour. Actually it's similar in taste to Tutti Frutti's Green Tea. Both my toppings were good too.

Queens at Bollywood

I met up with a friend for a movie. But since we were to watch the LFS of Mission: Impossible 4, we had dinner first. He said he wanted Indian that night, so I said we just have dinner at Queens at Bollywood.

We don't know what to order. I just know that I wanted naan bread and him, basmati rice. So we let the server chose for us.

She said we order Chicken Tikka Masala and Momos ( a favorite of a lot of customers that night, we even overheard a customer gushed how good they were). Momos are spicy lamb dumplings with hot sauce. Because a lot of customers were ordering them that night, they ran out of it. Too bad as we were really curious of its taste. We just replaced it with Chicken Malai Kebab.

As we were waiting for our orders we were given complimentary Pappadam with Mint Leaves and Yogurt. Apparently they were also unlimited. The server were giving us more of the pappadam which we refused as we wanted to leave a lot of room for our orders.

The Chicken Tikka Masala are barbecued chicken in a tomato buttered and spiced sauce. We chose to have it mild.

I like how tender the chicken pieces were and love the tomato sauce which I hoarded and dipped my naan bread with.

My Naan Bread smelled like pancakes but weren't buttery nor oily. While my friend's Basmati Rice was just like any regular white rice but were aromatic.

The Chicken Malai Kebab which were marinated in yogurt and cooked with cheese and green chilies, don't have a dip or sauce that when we asked for one the server just gave us hot sauce.

It tasted like a chicken satay sans the peanut dip. And also a vinegary/sour version of it.

We were both full after our meal, I especially, since I ate almost 3/4 of our orders, that we didn't look at their dessert menu anymore.

Jipan Christmas Chocolate Custard

It looked cute and christmassy that when the owner said that it was also their best seller and that it's filled from top to bottom with custard, I immediately said I'll buy one.

I thought the leaves were edible that that was what I tried to eat first, but no they weren't, but the cherry was real.

Basically the christmas chocolate custard is a croissant filled with custard then coated with chocolate.
I like the chocolate coating and the custard filling, but did not like the croissant itself. It was not flaky nor buttery and kinda tasted stale and over baked.

Kalbi Chicken Quesadilla, Onion rings and Nachos

I miss Forever 21 that I went to SM Makati despite the rainy weather. I was in there for hours, that when I went out I was so parched and very hungry and to top that it was already 930PM. My last meal before that was breakfast, so just imagine how hungry I was at that time that I can no longer walk straight. But since I was also to catch the 1020PM screening of New Year's Eve, I need to walk fast and to just eat dinner inside the cinema.

Just when I was scouting the Food Choices area I saw the onion rings and quesadilla order of a customer at Kalbi and wanted to have the same.

I ordered Chicken Quesadilla which came with one side. I chose Onion Rings, which according to a staff is also their best seller. I also added Nachos, when I saw another customer ordered it.

It was nice that a long line of customers came after me and not before me or else I wouldn't be on time for the movie.

When I took a bite of the quesadilla I thought that the staff got my order wrong, that he gave me kimchi and not chicken. But on my succeding bites I tasted the chicken, a lot of them, and melted cheese too. I like their Korean take on a quesadilla. I like that they added kimchi to it. In fact I did not even use the salsa/chili sauce it came with as it was already very tasty and spicy too.

I also like their onion rings.

I like some pieces of the nachos that were crispy, but don't like those that were almost soggy. I don't see any reason for them to be chewy and soggy as I asked for the sauce to be separated. I also did not like the taste of the sour cream. But surprisingly love the jalapenos, which I ate like nacho chips.

I definitely would buy quesadillas and onion rings from them again. Maybe tomorrow.

The Chicken Rice Shop

I was on my way to Chef d'Angelo when I saw the noodles and drink combo poster of The Chicken Rice Shop. I wanted the soya bean drink that I went inside to have that and some more. Looking at their menu I was more intrigued by their chicken, rice and chendol kacang (kachang) than my first choice of noodles and soya bean.

I ordered a personal Roast Chicken which came with hainanese rice and soup.

And for dessert I had a regular Ais Chendol Kacang (Kachang).

The chendol was artificial looking and the ground peanuts tasted old. Despite all that I still enjoyed eating the kachang. I like the delicate coconut milk cascading down the chendol mountain. I just hope that it had more coconut milk, red beans and chendol.

The roast chicken smelled like Christmas ham. The ginger and chili sauce combined with the hainanese rice (which tasted like Paotsin's rice) and roast chicken + cucumber were delicious. I ate more rice than I normally do. So that must mean that I like it.

I also like the comfy and private bench were I sat and the clean and simple interior, nice service staff and well-functioning AC. They also have their own restrooms (1 for each sexes).

Cafe France Chicken Bechamel and Chicken Pie

Although I didn't like my dinner of Chicken French at Cafe France, I still bought Chicken Bechamel and Chicken Pie from them to bring home. They were at 30% off their original price 2 hours before closing.

Come morning I ate the Chicken Bechamel first after microwaving it for a few seconds.
It was buttery and the croissant it was on was very flaky. The chicken bechamel on top was just so so. Salty but just enough for the size of the croissant. Didn't like it that much though. While the Chicken Pie was also just okay.

I met up with a friend last Tuesday. We're supposed to meet November 30 to watch Sarah and Gerald's movie but decided to make it a day earlier as we both know that a non-working holiday means more people in the mall and cinema.

We had an early lunch first at Pepper Lunch. She had the Beef Pepper Rice with extra meat and cheese (my recommendation), Mashed Potato and Coke, while I had my usual Salmon Pepper Rice with extra fish, cheese and curry, and Hot Green Tea.

After our lunch we did a few minutes of walking and then it was dessert time. Since she haven't yet tried Sebastian's, I recommended we had dessert there.

I would have wanted to try the Black and White Waffle or the Ice Cream Pizza but decided otherwise as I was still a little bit full from lunch.

We both ordered Chilly Burgers. I had the Midnight Truffle while she had the Fudge Truffle. She liked it a lot. I do too. Always.

After dessert, we went out of Mall of Asia to shop and eat some more at S&R.

My friend knows me well when she said I know what you'll fill your cart with the most. And she was right. I filled it mostly with food.

There were a lot of new baked items there. Some from Sugar Bowl Bakery, like Madeleines, Petite Brownie Bites and Petite Palmiers. But I was won over by the brownie bites, as I have read in one of Kris Aquino's tweets that Jed Madela hand-carried her favorite brownie bites from Canada, although this brownie bites are from San Francisco and not Canada, but still a brownie bite is a brownie bite. It's also written there that it has no trans fat and no cholesterol and at only 130 calories a piece.

You can enjoy it right out of the container or warmed-up. I did both.

Right out of the container I found it very sweet and uninteresting, but when warmed it almost tasted like a lava/molten cake. It sure does go well with an ice cream.

I also bought another new find, the Hazelnut Truffle Muffin. As I love trying anything with the word truffle, I bought a pack of four even without sampling it first.

At home I first sampled the one with oozing hazelnut truffle. The hazelnut truffle tasted like a Ferrero chocolate. But the amount of truffle in the muffin wasn't enough for its size. You'll be left with a lot of just plain tasting chocolate muffin.

And after filling my cart with some more food and unnecessary stuff, it was now time for dinner.
My friend ordered the Beef Baked Roll, while I had the Chicken Baked Roll and Fries.

I love how cheesy the baked roll was. I just don't like the bacon inside, which had this weird taste and smell. While the fries were very thick, had this fresh potato taste and just lightly salted. I just don't like the taste of the mayo on the condiments area, and also the too tangy tartar sauce for the baked roll.

Overall, I had a great time. What a great day spent with a friend, filled with a lot of shopping and food. How I wish every day can be like this. Just eating every thing you like, doing things you love to do and spending time with the people you love. Just having fun.

P.S. Just after paying for my purchases and on my way to the dining area, I saw their display cases of baked goods on sale per piece and slice. What! I should have seen it before to sample first the pastries before buying bulk of it inside. Next time. Better late than never. They even sell cheesecakes by the slice, and also muffins per piece. And cookies, and a whole lot more.

Big Bucket

As my feet and hands always hurt, I went to Big Bucket after reading a good review of it on a blog.
I went there after doing half of my shopping. It was around 7PM that time. I chose the 80 minute original foot massage and reflexology that comes with an upper body massage and foot soak. I added an aromatherapy soak for an additional 50 pesos. I chose the ginger powdered soak that releases "lamig" in the body. Other choices were powdered soak for stress and the other was a gel for calluses.

After choosing my treatment and soak I was led inside. It's very dark and smelled strongly of body odor. The room was crowded with people having massages, so I didn't know if the body odor smell came from one of the clients or the place. But after putting a lot of scented oil burners randomly on the room the smell disappeared or did I just got used to it. It's also communal so there's no privacy, but since it's very dark you wouldn't see a lot. You can just hear their every snore and whisper.

As soon as I was inside, I occupied the last seat beside the air conditioner. The seat was a leather chair that reclines and can even lay flat. It was very comfortable and even has an indented spot for your head.

My feet were put first on a bucket full of warm water with one packet of the ginger soak. I didn't see how it looked it just felt sandy and later on muddy (soft). But was very relaxing. Then I was asked to transfer on the stool at the foot of the leather chair for my back and shoulder massage, with my feet still on the bucket.
The back and shoulder massage was good, I just don't like the stretching part as I felt it was too early to stretch as my body was still very stiff. Then I was back to sit at the leather recliner, feet still on the bucket, and with another packet of the ginger soak put.

My head and face were massaged this time. I like the massage on my jawline but not on my head. The therapist hands were too strong even after I told her to make it light. It felt like she's gonna crush my skull. Then came the arm and hands massage. I like her strong pressure on my hands, I just wish it can be longer on that area.

Then she removed my feet from the bucket and massaged it. I love, love, love, love, her foot massage. It has just the right pressure. And she's spot on on my every aches and trouble spots. After spending a lot
of time on that area, she moved up to my legs and thighs.Then she enveloped my feet and legs with hot towels for a while then scrolled down the hem of my pants and it was the end of the 80 minute massage.

I was asked if I wanted hot ginger drink, which I said yes, as I know it's good for the throat and for removing "lamig" from the body, which I definitely have a lot of. When she said hot it just meant ginger hot and not hot water hot.

Even with the smell, which grew on me after a while, and with her strong pressure on areas where I like it soft and light, I definitely did enjoy the massage. My feet didn't hurt at all that night. I was even able to use my reflexology sandals without feeling any pain, which according to what I read meant there's no blockage of chi in your body. I'm thinking of making this a monthly habit. I wanted to say weekly, but as I already have traditional pinoy hilot done to me every week, once or twice a month of Big Bucket is already fine.

Cafe France Chicken French

I always see their poster of their rice meals both in Robinsons Place and in Mall of Asia. So after my Big Bucket massage I went there for dinner.

I was eyeing the Fish Fillet with Tartare Sauce but the cashier said that the Chicken French was much better, and that it's best serve with pasta instead of rice. Believing that she knows better, I followed her recommendations to a T. I ordered Chicken French with Pasta.

It's served with garlic french bread. And that's all I liked in the dish, the garlic bread. Both the pasta, which was so bland it needed a lot of everything - herbs, cheese, spices and seasonings, and the breaded chicken, which I spat out my first bite as I thought it's crispy chicken skin I was eating. I don't eat chicken skin by the way except KFC's. It was that fried that the thin chicken meat tasted like crispy chicken skin. And oil seeps out on my every bite. I cringe just thinking about it. As usual I didn't finish my order. Bland pasta + over fried and mostly breading chicken = dissatisfied customer. I was still hungry that I just bought and ate a tub of cheese flavored popcorn from the cinema.

Cafe Ysabel Chocolate Truffle

According to the lady tending the store, it's a chocolate sponge cake with chocolate mousse. Even if I was not impressed with her description I still gave it a try. I like trying truffle cakes.

I had it for dessert after my Cafe France dinner.

Well, I was disappointed when I had it at room temperature. It just looked good and fancy, but it tasted artificial. I even stopped at just one bite. I didn't enjoy it at room temperature that I decided to bring it home. The next day, just out of the chiller, I was able to enjoy the cake more, with the firm chocolate tasting of orange liqueur. I just don't like the sweet and clumpy chocolate sponge cake. But everything else I like.

Madonna's Chocolate Cupcake

I bought some groceries inside SM Hypermarket in Mall of Asia. And on one corner I bumped into the table of Madonna's and its cupcakes and muffins.

I was looking at the Red Velvet Cupcake and wanted to buy that but when I asked the seller what's the icing on top and she answered whipped icing, I looked the other way. I want Red Velvet with cream cheese frosting and not whipped or marshmallow icing. The Chocolate Cupcake beside it was what I focused my attention on next, which apparently was also their bestseller.

- I dropped it that's why it looked this way

It's a chocolate cupcake with chocolate ganache and caramel.

Though you will notice right away that they didn't use high quality chocolate, and that the cupcake base was not moist, but for just 35 pesos, and with chocolate ganache and caramel, I think it will do.

Pur Chewing Gum

I regularly chew gum because it relaxes me and also as a decoy for my system (brain and mouth) to stop eating for a while.

I choose sugar-free gums as I want to cut back on sugar wherever I can, because I really cannot not have desserts 5 times a day every day. My usual gum is Orbit White Mint, then I read that aspartame is bad for the health. That it can cause a lot of bad stuff to happen to our body. But it was hard to look for an alternative as even those gums that are not sugar-free and even hard candies have aspartame. I even frequent Healthy Options just in case. But was always unlucky. And then just recently I saw them. Sans aspartame/ Free of aspartame Pur Sugar-Free Gum.

I started first with the Pomegranate, which was sweet but will later on become bland. Then moved to Peppermint which was minty and almost never lose its taste even after hours of chewing. It's my gum of choice for now, until something cheaper without aspartame comes along.

I wanted to try the foot reflexology at Big Bucket in SM Mall of Asia and at the same time buy reflexology slippers. My feet always hurt that I feel I need a foot massage every day.

On my way to Big Bucket I passed by again at Dragonfly's stall. The lady told me to try their Banoffee Pie, their best seller according to her, but since I am not in the mood for something with caramel and cream, I looked at their brownies display instead. I have tried their Chocnut, so I was just choosing between Walnut and Mint. I chose Mint.

It was a messy brownie to eat. It crumbles on my every bite. But I still like it. I like how minty sweet it was. And very soothing to the throat too. It's like an after eight candy in brownie form.

Sbarro's Chicken Vesuvio

I watched Breaking Dawn on its first day of showing, and before going to the cinema I first bought snacks to bring inside (more like dinner, I was afraid that buying a few would not suffice).

I bought an order each of Chicken Vesuvio, Baked Ziti and Garlic Roll at Sbarro.

*it was hard to eat the vesuvio inside the cinema, as you will need both hands to eat the chicken

Sbarro's Vesuvio was different in the sense that it was very tangy, that first I thought that it was off (spoilt). Not my favorite. And the breading was like scrambled eggs. No problems with the Ziti and Garlic Roll though.

I also bought 2 slices of Starbucks Warm Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake.

They are my favorite among Starbucks Christmas Offerings, I eat a slice or two of them every day, but after eating 2 slices of them every day for 2 weeks, I think I've had enough of them for now. I should try something else starting tomorrow.

And last, I bought a small bag (minor league) of Tater's White Cheddar Popcorn.

They are so good. Salty with strong but not overpowering cheese aftertaste. They are cheesier than the Cheese flavor, but milder in the sense that your tongue would not be overwhelmed by its cheese flavor. I like it better now than my usual Texan BBQ. I've also tried their Curry Flavor, which indeed tasted like curry. But when I am on my "trying to be healthy" day, I buy the Plain Without Salt Popcorn.

Well, I didn't finish all of them inside. The movie wasn't that long. Did I like the movie? Not so much. I think all the good scenes would be on the second part. I did see Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol trailer though and am excited to watch it this coming December.

Starbucks Chocolate Toffee Loaf

As much as I want to stop shopping and start saving, I can't. There's so much beautiful stuff to buy and I still don't have that much willpower not to.

After shopping for clothes, groceries and magazines it was time for a snack, where else but Starbucks. There was an astonishing long line that afternoon, but as I want to eat my favorite Warm Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake, I braved the long line. There were no seats available too that I had it to go. I bought 2 slices of the Warm Chocolate Chip and a piece of the Chocolate Toffee Loaf.

I didn't like the Toffee Loaf. I mean I like the top with the chocolate ganache and nuts brittle, but the rest was clumpy. I still like the Hazelnut Loaf more.

After getting my online package at the post office, snacking on BK Spicy Chicken Burger meal and a little shopping, it was now time for dinner. I wanted pasta and fish that I ordered Fish Francese, Baked Ziti and Garlic Roll at Sbarro.

Everything was up to my liking. They all tasted great that evening and satisfied all my cravings. Actually I am thinking of eating them again tomorrow.

I miss the spicy rice cake that I ate twice in Venetian Macau, that I am on the constant look-out for any restaurant that serve it here. Unfortunately I haven't found it yet. Even Korean Village does not serve spicy rice cake. So when I was on my way to Forever 21 (always) in Megamall and I passed by Kimbob inside the food court area. The Tukbogi (spicy rice cake) was the first thing that I saw. I did not only do a double take but also a triple order of it to go. I had it to go but had to sneak in a couple of bites first.

It was very spicy. As in you'll definitely need a lot of water at your side while eating it. But since I have a high tolerance for spicy food I didn't drink any. But my mother did, a lot. She was even tearing up while eating it at home.

Compared to the fabulous and delicious spicy rice cake I had in Macau, Kimbob was of very low quality. The one I had in Macau was spicy, very tasty, chewy but very firm and packed (rice cake), while Kimbob's was just spicy, and the rice cake was loosely made and was sort of soggy.

Pancake House Fish Burger With Malunggay Sauce

I was all grease this week. Deep-fried, oily, full of fats, that was my usual meal nowadays that I definitely need vegetables. I used to make and drink 5 greens juice every morning. It has ampalaya, green apple, celery, cucumber and green bell pepper. But the process of slicing, juicing and cleaning the juicer every day has become tiring that I stopped juicing. I also stopped eating vegetables. So when I saw the standee of Pancake House Junior Masterchef Menu, I postponed dining at Sbarro and ordered the Fish Burger With Malunggay Sauce of Pancake House.

I found the dish cloying. I can finish an entire grilled fish (the jumbo one) in one sitting, but were able to just eat 2 pieces of the fish burger and a few spoons of the pilaf. I felt like I was eating mayonnaise on my every bite of both the burger and the pilaf while the malunggay sauce was too oily. Whatever health benefits the fish, brown rice and malunggay have were erased with the way they were cooked and presented. I should have just stuck to my original dinner plan of Fish Francese, Baked Ziti and Garlic Roll at Sbarro. Why is it that I am always disappointed with the supposedly healthy meals at Pancake House? I wonder.

I have seen them at Singapore but never had the chance to try them. Saw them too being featured in one of my fave TV shows, Sweets For My Sweet. So when I saw them in Mall of Asia, I definitely made room for them. I ate dessert first.

There were many ice cream choices, creations and flavors to choose from. I only tasted a few. Green Tea, Reversible Chocolate and Chocolate Chip.

For my order I chose a Banana Boat creation with Chocolate Chip and Sticky Chewy Chocolate ice cream.

I like the Chocolate Chip because I'm a sucker for chocolate chips and chunks, while the Sticky Chewy Chocolate wasn't good at all. But both melted too easily. In a span of a few minutes I was left with a puddle of ice cream. It was a total turn-off. The whipped cream too wasn't the airy type but a firm one, too firm if I may add.

Would I return? Yes. I would love to try their other creations. I just hope that by that time they have adjusted the temperature of their display freezer. I don't want a melted ice cream, cos if I do I'll order an ice cream milkshake instead.

Burger King Spicy Chicken Meal

Yesterday I got my US online order at the Post Office. I was thankful that I wasn't charged an exorbitant amount, cos the man ahead of me was charged 1500 pesos for a 4200 online purchase. Maybe because my order was small compared to his big order. Anyways, after the post office I went to SM Manila for a snack.

I wanted Starbucks but since there were no seats available, I just bought my fave cake of the moment - Warm Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake to go and ordered a Spicy Chicken Meal at Burger King.

It comes with fries, drinks and sundae.

I like my snack - the spicy chicken was tolerably spicy and very filling. I just don't like that it has too much mayonnaise.

And with the snack comes free wifi and massage, which I both happily availed.

Starbucks Texas Chicken BBQ Wrap

I am having the blues this week that I wanted to go out almost every day. I was asking friends and family members to accompany me but they were all busy, that I just go out alone. But going out alone meant more shopping and eating for me, so just imagine how huge a dent in my wallet going out is doing to me.
Even the heavy rains didn't stop me from malling.

After hours of both window and actual shopping, it was now time for a snack. As I still wasn't able to try all of their Christmas offerings, I excitedly ordered snacks at Starbucks.

I had the last piece of the Texas Chicken BBQ Wrap and added two slices of the Warm Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake and a slice of the Triple Decker Cheesecake with Snickers.
The Moist Chocolate Cake and the Pecan Butterscotch Twirl were not available that afternoon. Maybe next time.

The Texas Wrap tasted like CPK's original BBQ pizza, so I definitely like it. An order too was very filling.

This time my order of Warm Chocolate Chip was decorated with whipped cream and caramel sauce and I did like it. Even though eating it as it is is already enjoyable, the whipped cream and caramel added more to its charm. My favorite. I eat a slice or two of this every day.

The Triple Decker tasted more like Chocnut than Reese's and the chocolate cheesecake part tasted like their Truffle Cheesecake.

Starbucks Christmas 2011

Since the sem break has already ended, my sister and her family went home from their 2week vacation in our house. Our house are now quiet again. I miss seeing them and playing with my niece and nephew, that I wanted to get out of the house to stop feeling the blues.

But going out of the house also means shopping and lots of eating for me.

In the middle of shopping, I got hungry that I went to Starbucks for a snack. I was happy that their Christmas Offerings were already available that day.

I wanted to order the Texan Chicken BBQ Wrap but it wasn't available that I just settled for the Turkey and Chicken with Apple Stuffing on Whole Wheat Walnut Bread

It was hard eating this sandwich with utensils because the bread was hard. The apple stuffing inside also tasted like a nutty liver spread while the walnuts in the bread tasted off and old.

For dessert I ordered 3.

The S'mores, Peppermint Brownie and Warm Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake.

The filling of the S'mores tasted like mocha buttercream than something made of marshmallows and chocolate.

The Chocolate Chip really was a cake version of the cookie. I like that the chocolate part was thick and good.

While the Peppermint Brownie was moist, minty and very sweet.

Can't wait to try the rest of their offerings soon.

French Baker On A Rainy Day

I went out one afternoon to buy something when just as I was about to cross the mall it rained heavily. I thought of just staying put and wait it out, but there were already flood waters. My shoes were already drenched and ruined (it's made of suede) that I just pushed thru the rain. As a result, my clothes were soaking wet. As if I swam with my clothes on.

As I entered the air-conditioned area of the mall, I was already shivering. There were 2 choices. To buy clothes and shoes to change into or just let them dry.

As I don't want to be sick I opted for choice 1. I bought an entire outfit. First I thought of buying something cheap, those that you'll only wear once, but then that would be just a waste of money. I should buy something that I like and would definitely wear more than once. I felt extreme pressure of buying in a hurry, as my clothes were already drying out. But I still was able to do it. After changing into something dry, my body was still cold, like I'm coming down with a cold or something, that I decided to have dinner at French Baker. I ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu, which wasn't the best but which I like. It's served with mashed potato, buttered veggies, roll (my choice) and chowder soup. The soup soothed my cold body, while the rest comforted it.

And as I still felt cold after my Cordon Bleu dinner, I ordered a pot of Japan Classic (green tea), which they served with a brownie bite.

Thinking about that meal made me warm inside. That rainy evening was made warm by the food at French Baker. I am one satisfied customer that night. I also leisurely ate my meal facing the Parisian mural. It felt like I was in Paris that night. A rainy evening in Paris.

P.S. Back again at French Baker yesterday and ordered the same thing, Cordon Bleu. Although this time I had to return my Cordon Bleu to the kitchen as it was not thoroughly cooked. Soup served that day was Curry Soup.

Cafe Breton

We were supposed to have coffee and desserts at Starbucks after our dinner, but the place was packed. It was 10 minutes before 10PM, and most of the cafes in Trinoma were already closed. Cafe Breton was the only one in the garden area that was still open and that can accommodate all of us.

The rest ordered the usual Deja Vu and Eden Crepes and Mozzarella Burgers. While my niece and I chose from the DIY.

Mine was a sweet crepe with 2 orders of almonds, whipped cream, strawberry ice cream and nutella on the side.

While my niece had the same but with peaches.

I also ordered a hot pot of green tea for drinks.

We were all satisfied with our orders, and were very full from it. As in bursting at the seams full.

World of Chicken Pesto and Bananas

I ate again at World of Chicken. Ordered my favorite pesto pasta and fried bananas for my sides. For my chicken sauce I chose tarragon.

I like everything on my plate. They were all super tasty that afternoon. The bananas were plump and sweet and the chicken wasn't just skin and bones.

Reyes Barbecue Chocolate Merengue

It tasted like Aristocrat's Beehive sans the brownie and custard.
But since I don't like too much sweetness on my sweets, I don't like it that much. But my sister and niece do.

I tried this when we ate at Jollibee for a pit stop. I was so hungry that afternoon that I ordered a lot.
I ordered large fries, one piece chicken with rice, spaghetti and this, Choco Crumble Sundae.

It has crushed peanuts, brownie bits and crumbled chocolate cookies. And who wouldn't like that? It even gave me this Reese's chocolate vibe.

Goldilocks Dark Chocolate Muffin

I bought myself a Dark Chocolate Muffin at Goldilocks after buying my DVD stocks for the week.
The muffin was too shiny that you would think that it's moist, but it wasn't. Not at all. It was even clumpy and doesn't taste like it has dark chocolate at all.

I were to go to Forever 21 in Makati, but made a pit stop first at Mall of Asia. I wanted to buy magazines from Booksale. On my way to booksale though, I passed by Dragonfly Desserts and bought myself a Chocnut Brownie.

According to the label, it is made with dark chocolate and topped with chunks of Chocnut.

Well, it was a soft brownie with a prominent Chocnut/peanut butter taste than chocolate.

Beryl's Tiramisu Almond Milk Chocolate

I love this chocolate that I can finish boxes and boxes of these in one sitting. I can even eat them every day without tire.

I can even remember the time I went to Kuala Lumpur, and the Beryl's factory (sort of mini-factory/outlet store) was the first place I asked to be dropped-off, even before checking-in at the hotel. I had my bags with me, or rather at the cab, and with the meter running, I went there, and I bought a lot of chocolates, as in bags and bags.

It has been a while since I last ate them, and my chocolate stash from KL were already gone, I tried looking for them at the supermarket but they were always not available. So when I saw them yesterday in Rustan's Supermarket, I immediately bought a lot. I'm afraid they might be out of stock again, so I hoarded boxes. And even if I still have a lot at home, I am already planning on buying more tomorrow. Just in case Rustan's decided to pull them out or there'll be delay in the shipment or...... I just wanna have a lot of them. Just because. I just don't want to run out of them again.

Dunkin' Donuts Tuna Salad Croissant

I remember how I used to love Dunkin's Chicken Salad and Tuna Salad Croissant, that I eat them almost every day. That was back in the 90's. Fast forward to 2011, I was looking around on where to have a snack after my mini-shopping, when I bumped into a newly-renovated Dunkin' store.

I was offered their new sandwich creations ( hungarian sausage bagel, longganisa on whole wheat, chicken clubhouse on cranberry and tuna melt on ciabatta), which for only P95 comes with a free premium donut. I must admit that I was tempted, a sandwich and a premium donut for only P95, but then nostalgia and curiosity got the best of me, that I ordered a Tuna Salad Croissant (P75) instead.

It was as good as I remembered it to be. The croissant was buttery, while the tuna salad filling has the perfect tuna to mayonnaise ratio. I would definitely buy more often now.

P.S. Just today I bought a Tuna Salad Croissant at another branch of Dunkin', though they were still good, but now the tuna filling has too much mayo and the croissant, although still buttery was overbaked. They should standardized their products, so I can have the same delicious croissant in any branch.

After my Qi Wellness Massage, I went to Robinsons Place for dinner and a little shopping.

It was raining hard that afternoon which explains the choice of mall. It was near to where I live than Glorietta or Greenbelt. And I don't want to be stranded somewhere far, if the rain continues.

I was already near Robinsons when I realized that I have already tried all the restaurants in the mall. Meaning there's nothing new to dine in to or so I thought, cos just as I entered the mall and was about to eat at Chef d' Angelo, of my favorite Sampler #2, I passed by Kangaroo Jack.

It's the first time I saw nor heard of them.

Browsing thru their menu, the Fish and Chips caught my eyes. It was cheap, as in just a few peso over a hundred. And when I asked the server about it, she said that an order's big, around 3-4pieces of breaded fish. It seemed too good to be true, but I still wanted to try it.

When it arrived, it did have 3 pieces of breaded fish fillet, but that's just about it. Why, you might ask. Because that 3 pieces of breaded fish fillet were mostly breading and just a paper-thin layer of fish. While the fries were too oily and soggy. It was indeed a waste of money and calories.

I was sad as the restaurant's menu looked promising and the staff were accommodating and attentive. I just hope that the fish and chips were the only bad item on their menu, and the rest are good. Fingers crossed.

After my Okuya dinner, I wanted to buy something for dessert and something to take home, I bought Starbucks Chocolate Rum Cheesecake, Frostings Brazo de Mercedes, French Baker Dark Chocolate Cookies, and House of Sylvannas Black Bottom Cup Cake.

The black bottom was soft with just a mild chocolate taste, the cream cheese topping too was very mild. A not too sweet cupcake overall.

After a late night shopping at Forever 21, I was again too hungry to walk to Greenbelt, that I just ate at Food Choices.

I went from one stall to another, until I settled at Okuya Express. They're the one who have long lines, aside from World of Chicken.

I wanted fish that night that I ordered their Fish Katsu Meal.

- fish katsu meal, with 2 side dishes and miso soup for P90

I chose tofu and beansprouts for sides. Both the sides were okay. But the fish katsu was too crunchy and was mostly breading.

After spending hours and hours inside Forever 21 in SM Makati, I went out with a lot of shopping bags and was supposed to have dinner, when I got a text message from Schu in Glorietta 3 informing me of the Cambridge Satchels arrival. It was unexpected since I just made a reservation last Saturday, and looking from the number of people on the list, I thought it would take me months before I can have my batchel. My name was at the 4th or 5th page. I immediately went there and looked at the new arrivals. I got first dibs, as it was also already late, around 830-845PM. They didn't have the Purple Batchel that I wanted, what they have were fluorescent satchels, a yellow music bag ( I love the color) and a green and pink batchel. Since I wanted a batchel I was just choosing between the green and pink. I love the color green on a satchel, but on a batchel, it just looked too manly. So I bought the pink batchel. I were later told that they sell on a first come first serve basis and not on the number on the reservation list. They just inform those on the list of the bags arrival.

I still want a satchel, so I didn't remove my name from the list but instead added 13" satchel colors purple, green and yellow.

Since the mall was already closed after my bag purchase and Greenbelt was too long a walk and I was already very hungry, I just got up the escalator to the 3rd Floor and chose among the food stalls inside the Food Choices.

Kalbi is something new for me, so that's where I bought my dinner. The lady at the counter told me that the KB BOP (149) is their best seller, incidentally, it was also the one I wanted to try.

You have choices of either pork, beef or chicken. I chose chicken.

Kalbi's KB Bop has bean sprouts, carrots, cabbage, kimchi, corn, and chicken surrounding the steamed white rice topped with fried egg.

An order was huge that I wasn't able to finish it all, that and also because I ate a bag of Tater's popcorn while on my way to the Food Choices.

The vegetables and meat were arranged in a cute and colorful way, that it seemed inviting to eat, but it does not only looked good, it tasted good too, for a bibimbap that is. And although it doesn't have that much assortment of vegetables as Kaya's bibimbap, but for the 149 price, it's more than enough.

- though I like how the milk chocolate tasted - creamy and very rich, I still would have liked it with cocoa powder dusting than the glossy sugar coating.

- this was good too. Better than the dark chocolate truffles. I like the use of rock melon too. Gave the dark chocolate a sweet and creamy taste.

- this tasted like a chocolate cake batter. It also has the same consistency, very thick.

- this has a far more dark/strong chocolate taste than the dark chocolate. I wonder why. So this is my favorite.

These were the chocolates I bought at the chocolate factory (Beryl's) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The factory was my first stop in KL during my vacation. The cab driver asked me if I like chocolates and would want to visit a chocolate factory. I of course said yes. Absolutely. I went there as soon as I went out of KLIA, even before I could check-in at the hotel.

Was it worth it? Absolutely.

I like all the chocolates that I bought. Though some I love more than the other.
There were still a lot to try and buy. There were a lot of them in there. Some were even filled with unconventional fillings.

Chef's Quarter Fish and Chips and Gooey Fudge

Forever 21 is really my Achilles heel. I can't go in the store and not buy anything. And whenever I do go inside, I usually spend a month's salary.

This week I went there twice. So just imagine how broke I am today. And I am still planning on going back tomorrow as there were still a lot that I wanted to buy.

I love buying coats, jackets, blazers, jeans, boots and accessories. In short, I love everything.
Just yesterday I bought coats in different colors, jeans too. And tomorrow I'll buy the charcoal jacket and the blue shades.

Oh my. I really need to take a grip on my spending. I spend like a rich girl, which I definitely am not.
Anyways, after shopping, I wanted to have dinner at Chelsea in Podium but it was a long walk from Megamall, that I just looked around the Atrium area.

There's Eat n Go, Amici, Gumbo, Mesa, Kebab Factory, HK Choi and Chef's Quarter.
I settled at Chef's Quarter and ordered Fish and Chips.

It was satisfactory and filling. Although I was hoping for the greasy fries and not the potato wedges it came with. I wanted to be bad that day. I wanted grease. But the potatoes were nice.

For dessert I was torn between the Surprise and the Gooey Fudge which was their best seller.

I were told that the Gooey Fudge was like a molten cake while the Surprise is a bruleed white chocolate cheesecake on an Oreo cookie crust. But I wanted molten cake that night, so I chose the Gooey Fudge.

Well, it was more a chocolate sponge cake covered with chocolate ganache than a molten cake. And it's super sweet too like their French Mousse Gateau. Eating this made me miss Cyma's Molten Cake. Chocolatey good.

Holy Cow Beer Battered Fish FIllet

Out shopping at the last weekend sale. It's ironic though that all the items that I liked and bought were regular-priced items, so nothing saved there.

Anyways, it was nice to have a lot of dining options that night, but there's only one dish that I was craving - breaded fish fillet, preferably with fries or veggies.

I was torn between Almon Marina's Fish and Chips and Holy Cow's Beer Battered Fish Fillet. I settled for the latter. I was bought by the cream sauce.

It was part of their Lunch Specials, but the waitress said that for me, they'll be willing to serve it for dinner too. I don't know if she's just buttering me up or she's telling the truth. If they do make exceptions or they offer it to all.

The Beer Battered Fish Fillet was served with java rice, buttered veggies and iced tea.

The rice, iced tea and veggies were all good. While the battered fish tasted more like bread than anything else. But if you can get over the taste, like I did, then all is well. Though I don't think I'll be ordering this again. Once is more than enough.

Bread Monster S'mores Marshmallow Bar

Last Sunday, the entire family went out to eat and shop in Trinoma. As always I looked for something to bring home for my sweets stocks. I tried finding one at Parvati but their desserts don't interest me. I liked Dezato's Mochi and Gigi's Custaroons and Poppers, but I wanted something new. I wanted to try Gigi's Green Tea Poppers but they were not available. I was losing hope of buying something, and it was near the mall's closing time, when I remembered Bread Monster.

I haven't tried everything they sell yet. So I went there, bought a lot of Cookie S'mores, which BTW weren't as good as those that I have tried in their Market Market branch, but which I still bought, as I am a sucker for chocolate chunks, especially big and multiple ones.

The lady tending the store was very generous with the tasting portions that she gave me. She let me try the S'mores Bar and the Molten Chocolate Cake, which she said was best eaten warm.

I liked both, but since I already hoarded on S'mores Cookies, I only have room for one. I chose the S'mores Marshmallow Bar.

It was a different take on S'mores, as instead of graham crackers, they used oatmeal, and brownies for the chocolate part.

I like this S'mores version, as it also reminded me of a Revel Bar, which is one of my favorite sweets.

My sister and my pamangkins are still on vacation in our house. I just went out and wanted to buy something to bring home to them. I was left with two choices. An assorted brownie pack from Brownies Unlimited or Max's Brazo de Mercedes. I chose the latter.

It was different from Goldilocks version as it was not that sweet. You can eat a lot without even knowing.
I like it, and would even buy one again soon.

I accompanied my mother with her errands one rainy afternoon, and after doing her thing, it was now time for dinner.

I haven't eaten at Pancake House, since forever. Kidding aside, it has been a while.
There were a lot of new dishes in the menu (new for me), and though it was hard to decide, we both settled for something healthy but still look good (in pictures).

I ordered the Salmon Cakes on Brown Rice Tabbouleh, while my mother had the Spicy Chicken Fillet on Brown Rice Pilaf, both below P200.

The Salmon Cakes tasted more like butter than salmon, although I did see some salmon flakes inside. I do like the dill mayo dip though.

The brown rice tabbouleh was too dry for my taste, but my mother liked it, that I ate her pilaf while she ate my tabbouleh.

While the Spicy Chicken Fillet was really, really really spicy, but dry at the same time.

I like the pilaf though, I like it more than my brown rice tabbouleh. Probably because it tasted like a paella. But it does cloy you easily, that you'll need part of the tabbouleh to balance it out.

I wasn't impressed with our meals though, and probably won't order them again. The salmon cakes (2 small pieces) and spicy chicken fillet weren't enough for the amount of brown rice in the dish.

I changed the onion rings to fries and the drink to a Buco Pandan Cooler for an additional 16 pesos.

I liked everything. It was indeed a complete meal (although not the healthy kind) for someone who likes fries with almost everything. And the cooler drink doubles up as a dessert too.

Gonuts Donuts Red Velvet Crumble

Saw a lot of new (for me) and cute donut varieties at Gonuts. Like the Disney Collection with Winnie, Piglet and Mickey. Saw Ube Crumble, Red Velvet Crumble and Blueberry Cake donuts too.

But since I just had my yogurt fix and will be having dinner in just a short while, I just bought one. The Red Velvet Crumble.

Honestly, I'm not that blown over by it, that I just took one bite and that's it. I still like their Pastillas de Leche more. So did the cashier.

It reminded me of Red Ribbon's Ube Cake and tasted like it too.

The first time I tried them at Market Market, I was very impressed, that I can't stop thinking about their S'mores and the chunks of chocolate in it.

So I was very happy when I spotted them again at Trinoma after my autograph signing session with Kim Hyun Joong.

I bought 4 pieces of the S'mores Cookies and 4 pieces of the Dark Chocolate Cookies. Both their best sellers. Their number 1 and 2 top sellers.

When I went home I was excited to eat the S'mores but noticed a change in everything. Although the chunks of chocolate were still present, the taste and the chewiness were slightly altered unfavorably, that I just ate the chocolate chunks and discard the rest. Same with the Dark Chocolate. It wasn't chewy, nor moist, but just plain hard and crumbly. The dark chocolate taste wasn't prominent too. Too bad as I was impressed with our first meeting. I don't know if there's just no consistency in their products or if they change their recipes. Whatever it is, I just hope that they'll bring back the old cookies that I love.

It was a smooth cheesecake with a distinct rum taste, somewhat similar in taste to Shopwise Bakery's Rum Balls.

French Baker Brownies and Peach Danish

My usual purchase at French Baker are their Dark Chocolate Cookies, but when they only had one piece of it left, I had to buy something else to bring home for my hibernation. I bought a box of Brownies and a piece of their Peach Danish.

I don't like the crusty top of the brownies but the moist half I do. The peach danish was also good more so if you are a peach lover.

Since my massage appointment with Shui Hilot Spa didn't push thru (always their fault), I booked another massage, but now with Qi Wellness, also in Makati.

The moment you enter you'll immediately feel and see the difference. Qi's interior was classy and warm, while Shui was dark and almost rundown (now that is, they really need a makeover). And even before you approach the reception, Qi's host already knows your name. All those times that I made an appointment at Shui, their usual greeting to me was, do you have an appointment, instead of good afternoon ms _ , you have an appointment for today at 1PM. Anna will be your attendant. You'll start your treatment with a foot reflexology and end it with a 60minute massage of either shiatsu, Swedish or mix, like at Qi's.

After checking-in at the reception, I was then escorted to the reflexology room and was given a hot lemongrass drink (my choice). The foot reflexology was good that it made me doze off for a little while. After the foot reflex, I was then transferred to the massage room. I chose the mix massage. Shiatsu is a dry massage, and was mostly stretching, Swedish uses oil, and was mostly kneading. I love how relaxing the mix massage was and also the tender but oftentimes hard hands of the masseuse. After the massage I was given another hot lemongrass drink (my choice again) and a hot towel that I used on my back and shoulders.

I saw 2 new yogurt flavors that piqued my curiosity and made me eat yogurt first and postponed dinner for later.

I tried Red Velvet, which tasted like their Death by Chocolate, in short like a frozen Magnolia Chocolait.

Next is the Green Tea which was like their original tart, which I like.

I bought the Green Tea and topped it with Fudge Brownie and Butterscotch Bites. Yum!

I thought we'll be staying in one Sunday afternoon, but my mother wanted to visit my sister, so we did. And for dinner we ate out. The restaurants within the vicinity of my sister's place were limited, that we ate once again at Savory, not that I don't like their food, cos I do.

We had the set 1-A which was good for 4-6 people.

It has Nido Soup with Quail Eggs,

Miki Bihon Binondo,

Sweet and Sour Fish,

Calamares,

Chopsuey,

Whole Chicken,

and 2 orders of Yang Chow Fried Rice.

Almost everything was good, I just don't like the chicharon bits on the soup and the sweet and sour fish fillet was too sweet. Also the set meal could have been a total package if it also has drinks.

For dessert we had the Coffee and Cream Delight and the Buco Pandan.

The buco pandan was okay. The coffee and cream as per my sister, wasn't.

Dunkin Donuts

Before our Savory dinner, my niece told me of a new donut item at Dunkin Donuts, that she ate a couple of days ago. She said that it was too messy to eat but was good. The way she described the Milky Bliss made me want to try it. And I did. I tried it with the Chunky Choconut and the Dark Crunch. And if you buy 3 you'll get an order of Dunkin Yan for free.

They were all too sweet for me though, and the donut base were dry and chewy. But out of the 4, the Dark Crunch was the good one and also the Donut Yan.

I like the generous chocolate coating on every half of the donut yan sticks and the dark chocolate glaze and chocolate crunch bits on the top of the dark chocolate crunch.

C2 Classic Cuisine

After lunch at Sumosam and an hour or so of shopping, we left Powerplant to go to another mall, for what else, but to shop some more.
But we immediately got tired of walking and wanted to just have a snack and rest for a while.

We all wanted to have some sandwiches/wraps and coffee or tea and cakes at Starbucks, but there were no seats available. As we were very tired and can no longer go to another branch of Starbucks a 15-minute ride away, my mother just went inside C2 Classic Cuisine for a snack of pancit malabon and the like, but what started out as a snack, ended into a full-blown dinner.

I didn't like the merienda (snack) offering of C2, that I ordered Inasal Rice, Tortang Alimasag, Seafood Inasal and Buko Pandan Shake instead.

They ran out of bangus belly that they replaced it with tilapia in my Seafood Inasal. The dish was rich and delicious.

The Inasal Rice was also good but was very rich, that pairing it with a rich viand, like seafood inasal, was too much. A buffer of white rice is a must.

The Tortang Alimasag weren't good at all. They were crispy on the edges and hard and rubbery on the rest.
My niece was disappointed as well.. She also ordered one thinking that she could definitely finish an order of 3 crab patties, but after just a couple of bites she stopped eating the alimasag and ordered another dish.

They all loved the Sinigang na Tyan ng Bangus,

and my sister liked her Ginataang Halo-Halo, which I didn't like that much as it doesn't have that much ingredients like bilo-bilo. And the taro taste and color was overpowering. It was like a melted ube ice cream with sweetened bananas and sweet potato.

My sister's boyfriend ordered the Champorado, which he had a hard time finishing, as an order is good for 2-3 people. My sister said that it was better with powdered milk than the milk they offered.

My sister's boyfriend, a certified durian lover, also ordered and liked their Durian Brulee.

The Buko Pandan Shake tasted good but was just overly blitzed. It was not anymore a shake but a juice.

While the Sago't Gulaman was just okay. It seemed to have an added ingredient/flavor than the usual, but we can't pinpoint what.

After all that we ate, we still made room for the Sweet Surrender of the Sweet Life of Ange that my sister bought at the Bakers' Dozen at the Powerplant Mall. It has now melted (the ice cream part), but was still good.

My sister gifted my mother with a stay in a Premiere Suite at A.Venue Hotel Suites in Makati. And since it's a room for four, we went with her. It's my mother's birthday too by the way.

A premiere suite has two rooms, two baths, separate living and dining room areas and a kitchenette.

My sister booked thru booking.com, and she got the suite at a cheaper price than if you book directly. It also comes with a buffet breakfast for four, wi-fi internet and free parking.

- in our room, the kitchenette was on a separate corner and not beside the dining room, and there's an island separating it from the living area

The buffet breakfast wasn't as extensive as from five star hotels, but the taste was more than satisfactory.

Overall, the room was nice, clean, and has almost everything you'll need for a short stay. Great for staycations. The hotel was also near Glorietta and Powerplant Mall. A plus for those who loves shopping.

Our first night we decided to just stay in and have food delivered. We ordered dinner from Mc Donald's. I ordered a lot for myself. I had spaghetti, chicken with rice, chicken nuggets, cheeseburger, large fries and drinks and a double fudge caramel sundae for dessert. Whew!

But I always have room for Garrett Popcorn Chicago Mix.

I asked my sister to buy me one in a New York Skyline Tin Can.
I like the CheeseCorn more than the CaramelCrisp, but together they were fabulous, that I finished them all in one sitiing :-)

And for midnight snack we had - Cheesecake Etc New York Cheesecake with Blueberry Toppings

- this is pure cream cheese, no extenders of sorts.

The cheesecake was very rich - thick but smooth, with just the right level of sweetness. Even the toppings were not that sweet.
