Kimono Ken

After our Pepper Lunch meal and a lot of shopping, it was now time for dinner.

I wanted her to try Yabu, but since it is not yet open in Mall of Asia, we just went to another Japanese restaurant, Kimono Ken.

My friend wanted Gyoza and Kakiage, I just added Chicken Cheese Roll, Gohan and Green Mango Shake.

After our first bite of the Chicken and Kakiage, we both agreed that the oil they used was already old and needs changing. In short, we didn't like our orders and left the restaurant with most of our orders still untouched.

Maru

My friend and I were supposed to meet a week before, my treat. But since he backed out at the last minute, he told me it'll now be his treat.

For lunch that day we ate at Maru.

We both wanted to try sitting on the floor, that we chose to sit on it than on the regular table/chair set-up. Plus, we're having grilled meats.

I wanted chicken since I really like the one I had at Korean Village, but since they only offer pork and beef, we just had the marinated beef, also upon the suggestion of the server.

An order comes with lots of side dishes. And if you order two grill items you'll get a free full order of miso soup. Since we thought a single order is already good for us two, we just had one order of the marinated beef and an order of clear broth soup with egg and tofu (we originally wanted the odeng tang, the one with fish cake, but it wasn't available).

The marinated beef were mostly ligaments, so we didn't enjoy it that much. We contemplated on ordering another one, this time just the plain prime rib, but my friend said we'll just eat somewhere else after.

We also had an order each of rice, watermelon and green mango shake.

The tofu soup has a clean taste, but was very cloying. With the too soft tofu paired with the silky beaten egg. It was too silky and slimy.

Among the sides, I like the tofu and the peanuts, while my friend liked the sweet potato one.

Both our fruit shakes were good. Especially with the very hot weather and the heat from the grill.
I definitely would be back. But I'll get the prime rib and will just ask for a marinade. And I really like the green mango shake.

Alone in Tony Roma's

It's my first time to dine solo at Tony Roma's. I was so tired from the commute from the hospital to the mall, that I wanted to treat myself to a full meal.

For drinks I had the Green Mango Shake, for appetizer/soup, I ordered the Baked Potato Soup instead of the soup of the day that was Chicken and Corn. My main course was the Marinated Boneless Breast of Chicken. According to the server, it's the most ordered chicken dish. And was better than their catch of the day, Grilled Salmon, that was my second choice, first was the Southwestern Chicken.

The Baked Potato Soup was thick and rich. I could stop at just that. There were just two things I didn't like in the soup. First, that most of the potatoes were not bite-sized. It would take 2-3 bites just to finish one. And second that the bacon bits they used tasted like chicharon.

I really liked the Marinated Boneless Breast of Chicken. It was light but very tasty. And was very good paired with rice and coleslaw.

I asked for the Green Mango Shake to be served last, as I don't want to combine a hot soup with a cold shake.

Photobucket

The Green Mango Shake was very sweet and devoid of the sourness of green mango, that I even thought they served me the wrong shake.

For my midnight snack, I ordered Chicken Philly Sandwich to go.

Last Sunday, we had dinner at Sakae Sushi in Robinsons Place Ermita.

My brother-in-law had the Sushi Buffet, which for P399 also includes hot house tea or iced tea.

My mother and my niece both had the Tempura Bento - with chicken yakitori and assorted tempura (shrimp, fish, crab), miso soup, rice and a big serving of their tempura dipping sauce

and Lychee Shake for drinks.

While I had the Chicken Teriyaki Bento with Fish Tempura,

 - I like the teriyaki, the tempura tasted okay too but the fish inside was so thin, like film thin

and Green Mango Shake.

My sister's Pork Donburi was good and also my brother's Yakiniku Don. They both finished their orders up to the last morsel of rice.

We all liked our orders and were planning on coming back this February, when my sister from SG comes home for a visit .

P.S. Thinking about it, they forgot to give us the watermelon slices for our bento orders.
