Cupcakes by Sonjas

Before going to The Cake Club for dinner, I stopped by Sonjas to buy myself a box of 6 of their cupcakes.



I bought 2 Vanilla Sunshine, 1 Lemon Drop, 1 PB & J, 1 Red Velvet Vixen ( every piece bought, 10 pesos is donated to the Phil Red Cross) and 1 Pistachio Berries n' Cream.




The Vanilla and  PB & J were old favorites, the rest were my first time to try.

The Lemon Drop's icing has the texture of a flower icing. The Pistachio Berries n' Cream has a whipped cream topping and the cupcake base is wet from a sweet syrup that seeps out on my every bite. While the Red Velvet has a not too sweet cream cheese icing and a very moist cupcake base.

LEMON DROP (P60.00)
- vanilla cupcake with lemon butter frosting


COOKIE MONSTER (P62.00)
- chocolate chip cupcake with a cookie dough center, iced with buttercream and topped with a chocolate chip cookie


VANILLA SUNSHINE
- yellow cupcake with vanilla buttercream


PEPPERMINT PATTY (P68.00)
- valrhona dark chocolate cupcake with peppermint frosting



PB N J'S (P70.00)
-chocolate cupcake filled with Concorde grape jelly and iced with creamy peanut butter frosting

I like all the cupcakes I bought except the Cookie Monster, the buttercream icing was just too rich for me. While the peppermint was a welcome surprise. I normally wouldn't like any dessert with mint in it, but the chocolate and mint combination in this cupcake worked. Also, give the PB n J's a try, you might like it. Especially if you like peanut butter like I do.
