The Dessert Kitchen

I was watching KrisTV last Wednesday, and they were at The Dessert Kitchen in Powerplant Mall. I was anxious to try all their dessert selections that I went to Powerplant Mall that same day.

There were a lot of choices, from Parfaits, Sundaes, Eggettes, Shaved Ice, Taiwan Shaved Ice, to Puddings, that it was so hard to choose. I narrowed it down to Parfaits, Sundaes and Eggettes. But the server said that the Sundae is the best as it's in between light and heavy. He also said that The Snowy Land and The Winter of Love are the bestsellers from the Sundae selection. But as I am a matcha fan, I didn't heed his advice, that their matcha are of the strong type, and still order The Dancing Queen.

The Dancing Queen
Green tea ice cream + red bean + green tea kanten + mini rice balls + milk pudding + vanilla ice cream

My verdict. Their matcha ice cream was indeed the strong matcha type, but I still like it. And at first glance you would think that it's light and wouldn't tide your hunger, but you're wrong. With its layers of ice cream, kanten and rice balls, pudding and another layer of ice cream, it made me missed my dinner, as I was still full from my sundae come dinner time.

Dean and Deluca Grilled Cheese and Matcha Milkshake

At first I thought that they gave me the wrong size of sandwich. That they served me the half order and not the regular/full-sized one, as it's just half a sandwich. But apparently, an order of Grilled Cheese Sandwich, is this size. It's just half a sandwich.

Even if it has three cheeses, I didn't enjoy eating it. And for 450 pesos an order, it was a very expensive half sandwich.

For drinks I tried their Matcha Milkshake

It's just like Starbucks' Green Tea Frap.

Milk Cow Matcha Crunch

A friend told me that her family love Milk Cow. What she said made me curious, that I went all the way to Powerplant Mall just to try it.

A staff told me that the one with honey is their bestseller. But as I love anything with matcha, I ordered the Matcha Crunch

Milk ice cream topped with matcha powder and rice krispies.

I like how creamy and not too sweet the milk ice cream was, but I wish there's more matcha powder. Happy Eating!

Churreria La Lola

I ordered the Xuxos or stuffed churros. I chose nutella as filling. I also ordered the Churros Classico or the traditional churros, but they are twice the length of common churros. I also added an extra order of their belgian dip for the classico.

Compared to Dulcinea, La Lola's churros were not at all oily, so finishing an entire medium order of the classico didn't feel as sinful. But my favorite was the xuxos. It's very tasty as it's already stuffed with nutella.

Hatch 22

This was my second time here. And on both occasions, I ordered The Rockwell Club

It has bacon, ham and rosemary chicken fillet. All that you'll ever want in a sandwich. And it's served with sweet potato fries, that at first I was skeptical to dip in catsup, but later on found out, it's good that way.

My drink of choice this time was a mocktail. Cucumber Cool, I were told, was a bestseller. Personally, I didn't like it. It was like a very sour lemonade, minus any sweetener.

Morelli's Pistachio Gelato

I saw their gelatos on a lot of Instagram posts, and they all looked delicious. That even when the closest branch to me was still very far, I still made an effort to try their gelatos ASAP.

There were a lot I wanted to try, but I just settled for a combo of 1 scoop of gelato and soft-serve gelato. My gelato of choice was Pistachio

They were worth the effort. So good.

Eric Kayser Salted Caramel Eclair

I love everything about this eclair. Also, that it has just the right amount of sweetness. I should have bought more.

A day of favorites

I went to powerplant mall to exchange something that I bought in ever new last sunday. But before I went to ever new, I had lunch first at CPK.

I saw that they have a promotion for the month of february, 2 personal size pizza for 499. California club and italian sausage with pepper. I wanted to order that but I really miss eating my favorite original BBQ chicken pizza, so that's what I ordered, plus raspberry iced tea.

While waiting for the pizza, I drank two glasses of iced tea that when the pizza was served, I was already too full to eat. In short, I just had the pizza to go.

After exchanging the iphone bag, I went at the basement and bought a chocolate cupcake and a cookie at little miss OC's booth.
The cookie and cupcake were both moist and bitter (dark chocolate bitter).

Then off to glorietta and greenbelt I went.

I bought a centennial loaf at the baguio country club section in heaven and eggs glorietta. It's a smaller loaf of their famous raisin bread. I also bought a red velvet and valrhona chocolate cupcake at vanilla cupcake bakery.

For dinner I had carbonara at shakey's. And for dessert, my favorite avocado shake at seattle's best. Then I bought a box of 6 of my favorite macarons at TWG. Can you call this day a day of favorites?

Sweet Life and Happy Lemon

Bought myself a large cup of Happy Lemon's Cocoa with Rocksalt and Cheese with extra Pearl and Pudding and a slice of Sweet Life by Ange's Angelina Red Velvet Cheesecake at Powerplant Mall.

The Cocoa wasn't as good as those I had in their Robinsons Ermita branch.

The Angelina is made up of layer of NY style cheesecake, red velvet cake and sour cream frosting.

The taste of the NY cheesecake overpowered everything, even making the red velvet cake tasteless. But I do like the taste of the NY cheesecake layer.

Espressamente Illy Pistachio Cheesecake

I already know where I will be having my dessert after my Astralis sliders (Sango's Maccha changed to vanilla), but as I passed by Espressamente and saw the Pistachio Cheesecake, I knew I had to try it.

Photobucket

I thought that what's on top of the cheesecake was chocolate and pistachio, but the manager told me it was all pistachios- pistachio nuts and pistachio paste.

Photobucket

It was just an okay cheesecake. The crust and the cheesecake both have mild taste, the cheesecake mild lemon and the crust just mildly sweet. While the pistachio toppings were kinda earthy. There's no fit description to the toppings though, but earthy.

ESPRESSAMENTE ILLY

Astralis by Diamond Hotel

After shopping at Forever 21 in SM Makati, I immediately went to Powerplant Mall for a late lunch. I didn't have breakfast, so I was really famished. As soon as I alighted from the car, I immediately scouted the area where I was dropped off. Astralis was the 2nd resto that I saw, first was Cafe Via Mare.

Photobucket

As I was browsing thru their menu, a server approached me and right away recommended the Chicken Parmesan Slider. She said that it was one of the new items on their menu. She also said that among all that she has tasted, this was for her, the best.
I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt, and thus ordered the Chicken Parmesan Slider (P345) and a side of Crispy French Fries (P75)

She gave me two bread rolls (of different kind) and butter while waiting for my slider.

I only tasted one, from the two rolls. But it was really good. One of the best complimentary rolls/breads that I have tasted. In the same league as the Honey Rye Bread (almost chocolate) of Myron's.

I smelled butter, as soon as the server put the sliders down on my table.

Photobucket

My first bite of the parmesan slider brought me to heaven. It was that good. The chicken was so tender you wouldn't even notice that it was fried. And the buns with their glistening top, almost resembling a buttery croissant in taste, texture and smell. As If those weren't good enough, melted parmesan cheese and a buttery baby spinach was put inside the buttery buns with the tender chicken.

Photobucket

Their fries were the thick-cut ones - crispy and just lightly salted.

But for me their Chicken Parmesan Sliders would be best paired with Bistecca's Truffle Fries, and for dessert, Sango's Maccha Azuki Cornflake Shake. Now that's pure bliss.
