The Dessert Kitchen

I was watching KrisTV last Wednesday, and they were at The Dessert Kitchen in Powerplant Mall. I was anxious to try all their dessert selections that I went to Powerplant Mall that same day.

There were a lot of choices, from Parfaits, Sundaes, Eggettes, Shaved Ice, Taiwan Shaved Ice, to Puddings, that it was so hard to choose. I narrowed it down to Parfaits, Sundaes and Eggettes. But the server said that the Sundae is the best as it's in between light and heavy. He also said that The Snowy Land and The Winter of Love are the bestsellers from the Sundae selection. But as I am a matcha fan, I didn't heed his advice, that their matcha are of the strong type, and still order The Dancing Queen.

The Dancing Queen
Green tea ice cream + red bean + green tea kanten + mini rice balls + milk pudding + vanilla ice cream

My verdict. Their matcha ice cream was indeed the strong matcha type, but I still like it. And at first glance you would think that it's light and wouldn't tide your hunger, but you're wrong. With its layers of ice cream, kanten and rice balls, pudding and another layer of ice cream, it made me missed my dinner, as I was still full from my sundae come dinner time.

Cookie Dream

I saw their store on my way to Friday's in Mall of Asia. I like ice cream sandwiches so I immediately went inside to give them a try.

They have cookie samples that you can try, before you choose what cookie to have on your sandwich.

Choices were oatmeal, chocolate chip, oreo cheesecake, double chocolate, chocolate chip oatmeal raisin, peanutbutter & m&m's.

You can also sample the different ice cream flavors to help you decide.

And choose from the many toppings.

Here's my choice

Chocolate chip and double chocolate cookies with salted caramel ice cream.

Cajun Roll

The roll was so good that I bought a few more to go.

Steak Fries

This is with truffle oil. And anything with truffle is good.

Kyochon

I wanted the Soonsal, unfortunately it was not available, so I settled for the drumsticks in original flavor. I ordered Kimchi Rice to go with it.

It took quite a long time for my orders to arrive, as they were made to order. 15 minutes to fry their chicken, another 2 minutes for double frying to remove oil completely, and 5 minutes to brush the sauce on all sides carefully.  I thought that I wouldn't enjoy the chicken as the flavors/glaze were on the skin, and as I don't eat chicken skin, that I would just be left with a tasteless chicken. But surprise! Surprise! The flavors were skin deep. The kimchi rice was soooooo spicy, that I felt I was eating chili instead of rice. That explains why every customers that day were ordering garlic butter rice.

They only have one dessert, the Hotteok, Korean pancake with cinnamon and nuts.

It was different as it wasn't the fluffy kind. It has the consistency of a bread, with a pull on your every bite. But it was still good.

I hope they'll add more dessert choices, and that all items will be available every time.

Happy Eating!

P.S. I went back a few days after and fortunately enough, the Soonsal was available. I immediately ordered that plus an order of Butter Rice. Both were just okay.

Paper Moon Mille Crepe Cake

The first time I went to their branch in Glorietta, this was soldout. Luckily, it was available on my second try.

Unfortunately though, it wasn't that good. It was too bland for my taste. And you'll get too cloyed if you finish a slice.

Kumori's Krone

Not as good as what I expected, but it was still okay.
