Good Burger

We were looking for Tender Trap in Greenhills (which I later found out has closed shop), when we saw their sign.

I have read about it on blogs, almost all of which were good reviews. So I wanted to try it out for myself.


Since my friend was still full from his amazing cone sausage pizza, I just had an order each of Silly Burger P70 and Cayenne Hot Fries P35.

I chose the vegetable patty on whole wheat bun.


The silly burger has sour cream, garlic chili and cheese toppings.
The bun resembled a pandesal but denser. The vegetable patty was smooth to the tongue with a smoky grilled flavor to it. It was also very spicy. I like the way I felt after eating this burger, satisfied but not heavy.


Their cayenne fries are something, like eating the seeds of pepper. It was very spicy it burnt my tongue. My first time to eat fries that spicy. Maybe I’ll just stick to the potato wedges next time.

I miss the Cajun fries of a former booth at the food choices in Glorietta, I’m not sure if Cajun is also the name of the stall. They also sell big and juicy burgers.

Amazing Cone

As I have told you that Greenhills has lots of restos/eating places in the area, one of them is Amazing Cone.

Amazing cone sells pizzas on cone-shaped crust with melted cheese on top, Amazing Ice or crushed ice desserts, and soft-serve ice cream with a variety of flavored syrup.



Since for first timers it is always best to order the best sellers, we ordered the Feisty Fajita and Sausage Rampage Pizza both at P70.


The Feisty Fajita has diced chicken, bell peppers, onions, cilantro, cheese sauce and mozzarella, while the Sausage Rampage has Italian sausage, Italian herbs and spices, onions and mozzarella.



Their cone pizzas have a savory pie smell in them. They (the pizzas) have soft, sweet, doughy crust with a thick coating of cheese on top but little incorporated in the fillings. Though there are fillings until the bottom of the cone there’s no “cheese floss” that’s present in usual pizzas.



They are worth a try, though not the best pizza you can have.
We also bought Buko Lychee and Black Gulaman Amazing Ice.


The buko lychee taste strongly of lychee which is refreshing but the black gulaman is of a strong Chinese medicine. Should have tried their soft-serve ice cream instead.

Cake2Go

On my way to Greenhills Shopping Center, I passed by an outlet of Cake2Go. I have read that they sell really good cakes, so I bought a slice of their best seller, the Toblerone Cake for P85.



It is layers of chocolate cake, dark and white toblerone mousse with cocoa powder dusting on top. It is served almost frozen, so should be eaten right away or stored in the freezer.


Though the chocolate cake base was not that moist, the toblerone mousse more than made up for it. It was prepared just right, not too sweet nor rich.


Truly a delicious cake. I would definitely come back to try their Tres Leches and Dulce de Leche Cheesecake.

Angel’s Kitchen

My friend and I were at the Greenhills/San Juan area, for a day of fun and catching up.

We were overwhelmed by the number of restaurants in the area, it was hard to choose where and what to eat.

Since I’m up for anything, I let my friend decide (though I gave him some recommendations). He chose Angel’s Kitchen along Connecticut.

He was eyeing the Pakbet with Lechon Kawali and Chocolate Bagoong (w/c I later found out was their best seller), but we settled for Seafood Chowder Soup P198 and Parmesan and Caesar Glaze John Dory P378. We ordered light since my friend is allegedly on a diet =)

While waiting for our orders we were given Melba Toast with Chicken Liver Pate to snack on.


The melba toast was buttery and crunchy, it also complemented the creamy and smooth pate. There’s also no strong aftertaste and saltiness in their pate. The bad part with the melba toast and the pate is it’s not bottomless, you have to pay P35 for a second serving.

Just as we’re finished with the toast and pate, our Seafood Chowder Soup arrived. We asked for the soup to be split into two.


Their version of the seafood chowder was not thick. It was light but still rich and creamy. It also has lots of ingredients that were cut into smaller pieces but were still able to retain their shape and texture even after cooking. The chowder was also perfectly-seasoned. Truly a comfort food and one of the best seafood chowder I have ever tasted. Ditto by my friend.


When we were thru with the soup, our main dish of Parmesan and Caesar Glaze John Dory was served.


The John Dory was baked with parmesan cheese and topped with vegetables and lemon peel. An order is served with a cup of white rice.


It is creamy, cheesy and salty (in a good way). The john dory will really melts in your mouth. The veggies and lemon peel added crunch and tang to the dish while the white rice cuts its creaminess.


Personally I found an order is only good for one, but if you pair it with other dishes or want to eat light, then it can satiate two.


And what better way to end a meal but by having dessert or Banana Cream Pie P158 for us.

The banana cream pie was huge. Though I know that I can finish it by myself, we still shared.


It is layers of graham crust, chocolate, lots and lots of sliced bananas, topped with whipped cream and drizzled with chocolate syrup.

You might mistaken it for a nauseatingly-rich & cloyingly-sweet pie, but it is it’s exact opposite. It is a light and not too sweet pie, best shared.

We enjoyed our meal here and we’ll surely come back for a second visit. Of all our orders, I will still order everything except the banana cream pie. I’m still a chocolate person so I might order the Choco Lava Cake or Rustic Apple Pie with Caramel Sauce next time and maybe their Pakbet and Lechon Kawali with Chocolate Bagoong.

Salcedo Market for the nth time

Here are my new finds from the Salcedo Market:

Tita Ope’s Fresh Milk Bread Pudding P60/slice

I have always wanted to try their bread pudding. Being a bread pudding fanatic + the fact that I have tried and liked all that I have purchased from them from before (lasagna, brazo de Mercedes and choco cupcake) . And I can say that their bread pudding didn’t disappoint.


Theirs is better than Tita Moning’s and in the same league as Polly’s sans the rum sauce.


It is a cross between a bread pudding and a leche flan. It has the consistency of a leche flan but with the random interjection of crunch that’s in a bread pudding or a denser version of a leche flan.

The caramel sauce added sweetness to the creamy pudding.


Pamangan’s Chicken Ala King P30


Another find from the salcedo market.


Chunks of chicken with cream, pimiento and mushrooms on a pastry shell.


Their version of chicken ala king was very delicious and perfectly-seasoned. The pastry shell cuts the creaminess of the chicken ala king.

An order is a cup full. It may look few but it is very filling.





Dessert Du Jour’s Tres Leches Cake P70

They said that their best seller is their stacked of thin crepes with fillings, like the Millegfolie of Pepato. I wasn’t able to taste it since it was already sold-out when I arrived =( So I settled for the next best thing, the Tres Leches Cake.

It is a moist sponge cake soaked in 3 kinds of milk.

It may be weird eating it at first, like when you leave a bread in a cup of milk then eating it when it is already soggy and then drinking the cup of milk after, since the cake was swimming in milk sauce.


But when you get over it you’ll definitely like it like I did. The cake was creamy, soft and delicious.


I liked all that I have purchased from the salcedo market and would definitely buy them again.

Mom and Tina's Bakery Cafe

Back again at the Makati area I chanced upon the newly-opened Mom & Tina’s Bakery in Perea Street.


I always wanted to try their food but their Brgy Ugong branch was too far that I wasn’t able to. Good thing they opened somewhere accessible, like Makati.


Since they offer a lot of food, from starter to desserts, it was very hard to choose what to try first. After 10 minutes or so of looking at their menu & display cases and talking with their staff, I ordered the Chicken and Spinach Lasagna P125 and the Dark Toblerone Walnut Torte P90.



The Chicken and Spinach Lasagna is made of ground chicken cooked in cream sauce, sandwiched in between layers of spinach lasagna noodles. It is served with 2 pieces of Garlic Cheese Roll.


The chicken was so tender, the noodles were cooked al dente and the sauce was creamy and well-seasoned. It was a really good lasagna, the same goodness found in a Greenwich Lasagna. I would definitely order it again.


The garlic roll is like a garlic bread but with minimal amount of butter. I would love if it has more butter and a more prominent garlic taste.


The Dark Toblerone Walnut Torte is served on its original plastic container. It is made up of layers of meringue, chocolate cream, whipped cream, walnut and dark toblerone peaks. It is good for its price though not as good as the Toblerone Torte of Chelsea.


I also bought Bacon and Cheese Roll and Sausage Roll, both at P11 to try at home.




They smelled, looked and tasted like freshly baked pugon pandesal with fillings. Of the two, the sausage has more filling but the bacon and cheese tasted better.



Overall, the place is cozy & clean, the staff are friendly and accommodating, the service is fast and the food is more than good. I would definitely come back to try their other dishes.

CPK's White Pizza

I used to eat at CPK many times a week, that was when I had a discount card, and also back in the days when my boyfriend, now my husband worked there. I always dine there for free.

I have tried almost every pizzas, pastas, soups, appetizers, salads and desserts that they offer. From there I came up with my favorites. Like the Original BBQ Chicken for pizza, Garlic Cream with Chicken and Portobello Mushroom Ravioli with Garlic Parmesan Cream Sauce for pasta, Tortilla Spring Rolls for appetizer, Potato Leek for soup, Original BBQ Chicken Chopped for salad and Caramel Sundae for dessert.

Though I, most often than not, order my favorites, every time I dine there. I also try other stuff once in a while. Like this time, my friend and I ordered the White Pizza with Apple Wood Smoked Bacon P315.


It has mozzarella, fontina, ricotta, parmesan & pecorino romano cheeses, with sauteed spinach and garlic.


As expected it is as good as their other pizzas. With that five cheeses, it ought to be good. Their crusts are not flaky, they are thin, soft and with a pull. Their pizzas are also one of the few that stays good even after a few days in the chiller or freezer.

Brown Sugar Muffins

Walking around Greenbelt 1, I came across Brown Sugar Muffin. I got curious with the different flavors they have, from the Belgian Chocolate up to the Butter Muffin.




Since I wanted to try it out first, I ordered just 3 pieces of their Mini Muffins from their Specialty Selection for P55. I chose the Belgian Chocolate, Chocolate Chips and the Blueberry.



From the 3 flavors, my favorite is the Belgian Chocolate. Dark and fudgy. A lethal combination.


They are the first muffins that I have tried that are fudgy. They will really stick on the roof of your mouth. Plus you can really taste the chocolate and the blueberries in your every bite. They also maintained their softness & fudginess even after a couple of days in the fridge. They are now my bench marks for good and delicious muffins.
