My friend and I wanted to try the croughnuts of Dolcelatte, as we both like the cronuts of Wild Flour. So last Saturday we went to Dolcelatte for a late lunch.
I ordered Cajun-Spiced Salmon Steak while my friend had the Seafood Marinara.
My friend said that the marinara was at par with the marinaras she had in Italy. For my salmon, it was just so-so. I can't even taste the cajun spice, but it tasted fresh.
If you want to choose the flavors for your croughnuts you have to call and reserve in advance. They seldom have excess croughnuts to sell for walk-in customers.
Good thing that that afternoon they have 5 excess boxes. As we weren't able to choose the flavors, the flavors in our box were raspberry cream cheese, custard cream cheese, peanut butter crisp, almond caramel, and one which I forgot to ask the name of.
They were pleasing to the eyes, but not as good as the cronuts of wild flour taste-wise.
P.S. I also bought a pack of dark chocolate cookies and a slice of their famous valrhona crunch cake. The cake was good, while the cookies were soft and sweet.
Walking around Lucky Chinatown Mall, I came across Pink Wasabi. Pink Wasabi sells sushi-style cakes. As I still don't have sweets to eat at home, I bought a box of 4 to try.
I chose all their bestsellers. Amarula, White Matcha, Nutella Sesame and Midnight Mint.
The White Matcha is pistachio cake, white chocolate matcha ganache and white chocolate tablet. Amarula is pistachio cake, amarula milk, chocolate ganache, and dark chocolate nori wrap. The Midnight Mint is chocolate cake, dark mint chocolate ganache, cocoa dust and mint roe. While the Nutella Sesame is chocolate cake, nutella dark chocolate and black sesame.
The white matcha doesn't taste of matcha and the nutella tasted strongly of sesame that I can't even taste the nutella in it. From the four, I like the amarula and midnight mint.
The seller told me that the Oolong Berry was another favorite of customers. Oolong Berry is almond cake, strawberry white chocolate ganache, white chocolate and strawberry roe.
My sister brought home a couple of boxes for us to try. She wanted for us to try it every time we were in Ikea, but all those times, the princess cake was always sold-out, that the moment they restocked, my sister bought a lot and stored it in the freezer, until the time she went home for a vacation.
It was definitely good that I even finished a box in a day. It was a cross between a donut and a cake.
My sister went home for a mini-vacation, and I asked her to buy me 8 pieces of Laduree Macarons. I wanted salted caramel, marie antoinette, marron (chestnut), rose petal, chocolate yuzu, praline, pistachio and vanilla.
When she arrived I was so excited to open the box, only to find 6 pieces macarons, and some of the flavors were not what I wanted. She told me that most of what I wanted were either sold-out or seasonal flavors, that she only bought 6 pieces :-(
She bought them in singapore where a piece can cost almost P200. I wanted the singapore box of 8, but since she only bought 6, they wereput in a small box (only two box choices were available for 6 pieces).
Personally they weren't to-die-for-macarons, but they were crisp on the outside and soft inside. But I still like TWG's earl grey and chocolate macaron. From what I had, I liked the salted caramel and pistachio.
I were told that the Banana Hazelnut and the Blueberry Cream Cheese were their bestsellers. I wanted both but my tummy can only accommodate one, so I chose Banana Hazelnut. I also bought one to give to my mom.
We (my mom and I) both like it. Although it wasn't crisp-on-the-outside-but-soft-on-the-inside kind of waffle, but still it was good.
I were also told that they (waffles) are best paired with their Malaysian coffee, which my mother is excited to try.
I met up with a friend to get all the stuff I had delivered at her mother's house in Maryland. I arrived half an hour early, so I did some window shopping while drinking my favorite Matcha Smoothie with extra rocksalt and pearls of Happy Lemon. When she arrived, we went to CPK for lunch.
We ordered Kung Pao Chicken Pasta and Meatcravers Pizza. Both were good, but the kung pao was extra spicy that afternoon.
We were given a free dish of the month coupon that I redeemed the day after. I chose the Pepperoni Pizza Roll and added another favorite, the Garlic Cream Fettuccine. The pizza roll was just okay.
For dessert I bought cupcakes from Frostings to take home. Carrot Cream Cheese, Smores Choco Caramel, Red Velvet and Choco Black Out.
