Mom and Tina's

After the Krispy Kreme Kruffin and Pull-Apart, and the Kooky and Luscious Carrot Cake, I walked a couple of steps more and was directed to Mom and Tina's

With the carrot cake not being enough to satisfy me for the next day, I also bought Orange Mandarin Cupcake (P30.00) and Hershey's Brownie (P25.00) at Mom and Tina's.

The Orange Mandarin Cupcake was good and light. It also has a thin orange custard in between the icing and the cupcake. The cupcake base was not only moist and soft but it also has a milky taste to it.

The cupcake as a whole gave me a cheese ice cream vibe without the tang.

The Hershey's Brownie was too little for its price. It was also not fudgy but more of like a flourless chocolate cake in texture. With that said, what I only like in it were the big Hershey's chocolate chips, that that minute size has a lot of. I wouldn't mind buying one again just for the Hershey's chocolate chips.

Kooky and Luscious Carrot Cake

A couple of steps away from Krispy Kreme in Ayala is Kooky and Luscious.

From their display case the Carrot Cake (P85.00/slice) instantly caught my eyes. It looked like a dense and fudgy brownie with lots of nuts and a cream cheese icing on top.

Photobucket
I asked a staff several times if there's chocolate in it or if it's really a carrot cake. He said that it has no chocolate and that he's absolutely sure that it is a carrot cake.

Photobucket
Back at home, I was excited to try it.

Photobucket
I was impressed that it has lots of nuts but disappointed that it wasn't moist but rather dry and grainy. While the cream cheese icing on top was mostly sugar, but the cake was definitely good with it.

Krispy Kreme Kruffins and Pull-Aparts

Available only at their Greenhills and Ayala stores.

Kruffins are like muffins but with holes at P65.00 a piece. They have 4 varieties. Classic, Blueberry, Apple Streussel and Double Chocolate.

I had their bestseller, the double chocolate.

Photobucket
Not only did it have chocolate chips on top but it also has chocolate cream in the middle.

Photobucket
It was really good and would satisfy any chocolate lover.

For the pull-aparts (doughnut like sweet bread with sweet or savory fillings, like Cheese, Bacon and Cheese, Sausage and Cheese and Cinnamon), with the bacon not being available, I had the Sausage and Cheese instead.

Photobucket
I didn't like it. The cheese and the sausage weren't enough for the bread, and the bread wasn't soft nor buttery nor sweet.

Photobucket
It was also quite expensive at P75.00 an order. You can have a better bread/sandwich at Jipan for much less.

Mr Jones Frenchie's

I'm still in my diner phase, I think I'll be forever in it.

I really love dining at Mr. Jones, I'm there almost twice a week. My usual orders are their Superman Burger and the Two Dogs in Bed. This time I had the Miss Frenchie's French Dip (P395.00)

Photobucket
U.S. Beef with onion "Au Jus" served on a baguette with beer battered onion rings, french fries and horseradish-chive cream.

Photobucket
The accompanying onion broth is placed on a ramekin with a diffuser, sort of fondue-style.

An order was indeed overwhelming, I don't even know where to start. LIAR! I know where to start, with the fries of course! I asked again for an extra tartar sauce 'coz I don't like dipping it on ketchup. But after the fries and the onion rings came the hard part, how to eat the sandwich.

Photobucket
With Delifrance Roast Beef, I dunked the sandwich on the gravy. It was easy with delifrance since their baguette was soft and their sandwich small. When I tried doing the same with Mr Jones Frenchie, most of the filling went in the broth. Then I tried slicing the sandwich, but the baguette was extremely hard. Tearing the baguette with my hands was the easiest way to eat it but dunking it on the broth made it soggy. So I just stopped dunking and just made bite-size pieces of the sandwich with none of the mustard and took the broth as a soup instead.

Photobucket
The sandwich was just okay but I don't think I'll be ordering it again.
