Frostings Lemon Meringue

Photobucket
Lemon Meringue (Reg P40.00)
lemon butter cake mixed with lemon curd and lemon-flavored icing

This is one of my all time favorites in Frostings (together with their Brazo, Caramel and Swiss Chocolate).

Whenever I had too much of their sweet cupcakes (particularly their Brazo), I often buy this to balance things out.

Frostings Whoopie Pie

This is my first time to try a whoopie. Oprah said in one of her shows' episodes that she used to binge on it. Her statement made me curious as to how it looked and tasted. That when I saw one in Frostings, I immediately bought it.

Photobucket
Sadly though, Frostings Whoopie Pie wasn't that good. The chocolate cake was dry and the mallows too sweet.

PIC-A

Since I always pair my sweets with anything salty, I also always have chips or any other salty junk food on stock, like Tortillos Cheddar and Cheetos.

Nowadays though I only have PIC-A on stock. It was introduced to me by my sister. She said that I should try the cheddar flavor so that's what I have been buying eversince.

Photobucket
PIC-A has three (3) variety of chips in it, namely Piattos, Tostillas and Nova.

Photobucket
Aside from there's variety in taste, there's also a variety in texture.

Chef Tony's Green Tea Popcorn

I like Chef Tony's Popcorn. It was love at first pop for me. My regular purchase is their White Chocolate with Walnut Popcorn. This time though I chose to try something new, their Green Tea with Honey Roasted Cashew (p210.00)

Basically it tasted partly of Starbucks Green Tea Frap and of their White Chocolate Popcorn. And like their white chocolate popcorn, there's crunch, creaminess, sweetness, tartness (a cheese taste) and saltiness in every bite and pop. And it even had a lot of green tea infused cashews in it.

KFC Zinger Meal

KFC is my favorite fast food chain. It has almost everything that I want, from main meals to snacks and even desserts.

Photobucket
This time around though the Zinger that I ordered wasn't as crispy nor as spicy as their hot and crispy chicken. I even doubled-checked if it was really a zinger and not an original recipe chicken fillet impersonating one.

Photobucket
Anyway, I still love their crispy fries and their brownies of course (that I even bought 13 pieces of it).

Brownies Unlimited Caramel Cupcake

Photobucket
Though the cupcake was very moist ( which can also be attributed to too much sugar), I just find it too sweet for my taste.

PB N J'S (P70.00)
-chocolate cupcake filled with Concorde grape jelly and iced with creamy peanut butter frosting

I like all the cupcakes I bought except the Cookie Monster, the buttercream icing was just too rich for me. While the peppermint was a welcome surprise. I normally wouldn't like any dessert with mint in it, but the chocolate and mint combination in this cupcake worked. Also, give the PB n J's a try, you might like it. Especially if you like peanut butter like I do.

Rai Rai Ken

My husband adores Rai Rai Ken, but not more than KFC of course. So it was a given that that's where we ate for dinner.

We ordered Kani Salad (P120.00)

Photobucket
- with crabstick and vegetables

Salmon Balls (P65.00)

Photobucket
- five pieces of fried mash potato balls with salmon, served on top of shredded cabbage with tonkatsu sauce

Tofu Steak (P110.00)

Photobucket
- four pieces of deep fried bean curd with minced pork, mushroom and special steak sauce

Kakiage Tempura (P135.00)

Photobucket
Photobucket
- mixed seafood and vegetables in crispy batter, served with tempura sauce

and Yakimeshi (P50.00)

Photobucket
Photobucket
- fried rice

Everything we ordered was good with the exception of the Salmon Balls which were just okay.

Though it took me a long time (a couple of visits) to finally understand why my husband loves eating here, but as they say better late than never.

Momo Cafe

Eversince they renovated and changed their name and concept from Momo to Momo Cafe (patterned after the Momo Cafe in Eastwood), I have been eyeing The "Bestest" French Toast in Town (P195.00)

Photobucket
Highly recommended by their chef and part of their Big Breakfast that is served all day.

Photobucket
Melted nutella in between two pieces of french toast, crispy bacon and bananas. Served with whipped cream, maple syrup and fruit compote.

Photobucket
I had it to go since I was already too full from my Rai Rai Ken dinner.

The next morning I warmed it up for breakfast.

Frankly speaking I wasn't that satisfied. It wasn't all french toast. Some areas were just plain thick bread, plus there wasn't enough nutella to go around. I even used my own nutella stash just to make it taste better.

Photobucket
I wish they didn't renovate or change their concept. Back then almost everything on their menu is affordable including their cakes. Before a Mini Chocnut Valrhona was just P109 an order, now it is P315 a slice.

Mr Jones Truffled Mac

This time at Mr Jones I had one of their bestsellers, the Wicked Truffled Mac n' Cheese (P375.00)

Photobucket
It has 3 types of macaroni pasta, 4 cheeses, "Canadian style" double smoked bacon, baby portobello mushrooms, green peas and drizzled with truffle oil.

Photobucket
I haven't tried that much Mac and Cheese, so I can't compare. The only thing I can say about Mr Jones Truffled Mac was that they are rich and sinfully-delicious.

Photobucket
I recommend that you eat it solo (meaning with no other orders) or shared with a friend. It was that rich and filling.

Chili's

My friend and I were already running out of options on where to eat in the greenbelt/glorietta area. I would be just fine with Mr Jones but I let my friend decide this time. She chose Chili's.

We ordered the Classic Nachos and Chicken Crispers.

Photobucket
CLASSIC NACHOS

The nachos though far from what we're expecting, were still good. The cheese and everything on top of it didn't make the chips soggy. It was still crisp and it was also nice that you can top each chips at your own discretion with the pico de gallo, sour cream and guacamole.

Photobucket
The chicken on the other hand were a disappointment. They weren't crispy nor golden brown in color. More than a mile different from that on the menu.

Photobucket
CHICKEN CRISPERS

We asked it to be replaced but the replacement still looked and tasted the same. So my friend and I just stripped the batter off the chicken and just ate the meat. But the sides (sweet corn and homestyle fries) were delicious, especially the sweet corn.

Photobucket
And for our dessert we had,

Brownie Ala Mode

Photobucket
Their brownie was not the cake type - brownie but the fudgy type.

Photobucket
Dense and fudgy with a scoop of rich vanilla ice cream drowned in chocolate fudge and sprinkled with nuts. YUM!

Gelatissimo

The first time I was here I had their Veronese Gelato on a Brownie at P160 an order.

Photobucket
The veronese was good, almost tasting like nutella and it even went perfectly-well with their fudgy brownie.

The second time, with their Veronese and Chocolate Truffle nowhere in sight, I settled for their Biscottino instead, and same as the first time, I had it on top of a brownie.

Photobucket
On its own the gelato was good, but not when paired with the brownie. The biscottino was so light-tasting that it was overpowered by the brownie's taste.

Photobucket
Photobucket
But what I love that day, was The Godfather's theme playing on the background. So italian. With that said, I'm off to watch "The Godfather" right now.
