Red Ribbon S'mores

Photobucket
Chocolate cake with layers of marshmallow and grahams, topped with caramel and chocolate squares.

It's for the true blue chocoholics 'coz it's chocolate overload. The cake was good but would have been a better version of Smores if it has more of the graham layer and not just a single thin layer. Adding another layer of graham would cut the cloying effect of too much chocolate, especially of the very rich ganache.

Dunkin Cafe

The location of the cafe was so relaxing, especially at night when there's piano music playing on the background. So relaxing that I was close to falling asleep that night :-)

Photobucket
Choco and Cheese Trickles are just some of the item they offer in their cafe with Choco Wacko being their best seller.

Since I wanted to try it first before I commit to a regular size for P28, I bought a piece each of their Choco and Cheese Trickles Munchkins for P7.50.

Photobucket
Compared to their regular munchkins and donuts, the Trickles were compact and denser, the flavors too were more intense, with the cheese being tart and the chocolate slightly dark.

Kocco Brownies

Aside from the Mango Walnut Torte, I also bought a box of 8 of their assorted brownies.

I chose their Classic, Fudgy Swirl and Butterscotch to try at home.

- classic

- fudgy swirl

- butterscotch

Their Fudgy Swirl was a note lower than the Walnut Swirl of Brownies Unlimited in taste, the same goes with their Butterscotch. And even if I like chocolate and nuts together, I still prefer their Classic over their other brownie flavors.

The Classic is a fudgy brownie with chocolate ganache icing. This was fudgy, moist and dark, just the way I like my brownies.

I also followed what a staff of Kocco told me, that their classic brownie is best served warm, when the ganache's slightly melted, so I warmed it up before eating. And she's right, it was decadently-good. But, I still prefer it chilled 'coz I like my brownies fudgy and not cake-like.

Kocco Mango Walnut Torte

Their best seller cake. Layers of caramelized walnut, mangoes, custard, meringue and whipped topping. Decorated with mango slices and graham chunks on the sides.

It's a refreshing cake, more like a Brazo de Mercedes with the custard and the meringue. The caramelized walnut added more to its character and overall taste. The mangoes used were also sweet and ripe.

Photobucket
Everything here worked well together. Brazo de Mercedes is good, but with caramelized walnut, it's better.

Dezaato Pan

On my way to Banapple I passed by Dezaato Pan.

According to them, they are the Philippines' First Japanese Cafe.

They offer breads, cakes and gelatos.

Since I know that I'll be buying cakes from Banapple and Bagoong Club, I decided on just buying breads here.

I chose two of their best sellers, the King Niku Spicy Pork P45 and the Choco Otaku P45.

The King Niku Spicy Pork was just like the Spicy Pork Floss of Breadtalk, but Dezaato's bread was not as soft and can sometimes be a little dry.

Photobucket
I can compare it to eating a bread with mayonnaise topped with crushed spicy prawn crackers.

Photobucket
It was good but would be better if the sweet bread underneath was soft and moist. Also, it can sometimes be too-fatty and nauseating, with the mayo and pork floss.

Photobucket
The Choco Otaku's description was like cookies and cream, chocolate bread with cream filling.

Photobucket

I was confused by it that I asked a staff. He said that it was because of the chocolate cookie crumbs on top that somehow gave it that cookies and cream effect.

Photobucket
It wasn't as good as I thought it would be. The bread was dry and doesn't taste of chocolate. Also the chocolate cream filling was too minute, they could have added more. Plus it was neither creamy nor gooey, it was as solid as a chocolate bar.

I was already at the counter with the Brioche Hazelnut, when a Filipina cashier told me that the Chocolate Croissant was better than the Brioche. So I came back and changed my order.

macautowercroissant
She was right, the Chocolate Croissant MOP12, smelled and tasted freshly-baked, was not too sweet and not too flaky but still buttery-good. It also has a strong and dark chocolate taste.

You can really tell by its taste, that they used high-quality chocolates. It was dark and I liked it.
