Gourdo's

Every time I’m at the Makati area, I always drop by Gourdo’s in Greenbelt 2. I love looking at their stuff, from housewares, canned, bottled and boxed food, and now their fresh and baked goodies.

They now have paninis, pastas, calzones, gelatos, baked pastries and cakes.
For that particular day, I ordered a brownie to try for P50.


Their brownies are made of dark chocolate ganache, with nuts and drizzled with espresso.


It is very dense, more like eating a dark chocolate bar than a brownie. It also has a strong dark chocolate flavor which I love and with generous helpings of nuts to boot.



And because of that I went back and bought three more to take home. I might also drop by any day this week to buy some more. I can never have enough of a good thing, make that a good brownie like Gourdo’s.

CPK

I don’t know how many pizzas I needed to eat to erase the Uno pizza experience on my mind. Just to get a head start, I went over at CPK in Glorietta and ordered my favorite appetizer, the Tortilla Spring Rolls P255 (two flavors). I chose the Baja and Thai Chicken.


They are flour tortilla rolls, sprinkled with herbs and baked.



The Baja Chicken has chicken breast, jack & cheddar cheeses, roasted corn, black beans , fire-roasted chillies, red onions & cilantro, topped with parmesan cheese and served with fresh guacamole. While the Thai Chicken has grilled chicken breast, spicy peanut sauce, bean sprouts, green onions, carrots, cilantro and mozzarella cheese. It is served with thai peanut sauce.



Both spring rolls are very good. With each ingredients complementing the other and the sauces adding another layer of flavor. I also love how sticky the cheeses are in my every bite. I would really love to eat it every week if not every day.

You really can’t go wrong with CPK.

Chimara

Still undecided on where to watch The Mummy, when I came across Chimara at the 4th Level of Greenbelt 3, near the cinemas.


They basically cater to vegetarians, with California Roll, Tuna Wasabi Pita and Meatless Taco on their menus. They also have Tofu Chips, which you can have plain, seasoned or with dips.

In my case, I ordered the seasoned one, of sour cream & chives for P68.


Tofu chips are protein-rich, since they are made of tofu.


They have just the right level of saltiness. They are not as airy as usual chips. They are crispy, dense and good for you.

HAM & CHEESE KARIMAN

A fried snack from the neighbourhood convenience store (Mini Stop)for only P22.



It is a breaded then fried ham and cheese sandwich.


It is an okay food but personally I find it lacked in taste. All I can taste is the oil and the bread and none of the ham and cheese.

DAD'S MERIENDA BUFFET

My first time to know and try the merienda buffet offered by Dad’s for only P139.


You have a wide variety of food choices. Even more than what your stomach can accommodate. It’s more than worthy, it’s a steal.


My favorites from the selection are the mini siopao, siomai, pancit, ginatan, cream puff, chocolate balls and the tokwa’t baboy.

JUNIOR'S CAKES

They were having a culinary affair/show at the Activity Center of Glorietta, when I came across their booth.


I have sampled and liked their assorted cheesecakes/cheesecake sampler sold at the Robinsons Supermarket. So when I saw them selling other cake flavors by the slice, I immediately bought a couple to try. I didn’t eat it right away ‘coz I was busy scouring the mall for sales. So when it was time to eat it, it sort of melted and disintegrated. It may looked unappetizing but it’s the exact opposite of it in taste.

I bought the Skyscraper Chocolate Fudge Layer Cake P180 and the Chocolate Pecan Tart P130.

The Skyscraper is for the true blue chocoholics. It is made of layers of moist chocolate cake, chocolate ganache and chocolate fudge icing. With layers of chocolate on chocolate on chocolate, what more can you ask for?



The chocolate cake was moist while the chocolate ganache tasted like pure chocolate bar infused with liqueur. And did I say it’s huge?



The Chocolate Pecan Tart is made with short crust shell, filled with pecans, brownie pieces and chocolate chips.



It is best for people who like nuts and chocolates, like I do, because it has both.
There’s pecan in your every bite, and the crust is so creamy, it’ll melt in your mouth.
