Scout's Honor

I chose Craft One, with your choice of milk/latte/cappuccino and 1 make-your-own cookie.

I chose half basic chewy and half double fudge for my dough. For the toppings I had dark chocolate chunks/chips, mallows and almonds. And for my drinks, I chose Horlicks Milk.

They were both good, as I also like Horlicks (w/c was also their bestseller milk flavor). With my cookie, I prefer the double fudge than the basic chewy part. I would love to try their other milk flavors and cookie combinations. Maybe next time.

Tous Les Jours Graduation Bear Cake and Cookies

I wanted a bear face cake for my son's monthly birthday, so I bought Tous Les Jours Graduation Cake. They have another bear face cake but it's just topped with cocoa powder, this one is coated with belgian chocolate.

I also bought one each of their chocolate coated cookies. Strawberry and Chocolate. The strawberry one was very sweet. The chocolate I love.

Next time I'll buy their Strawberry Kiss Cake and the strawberry heart shape cake with yogurt icing. I just wish they'll both be good.

Marriott Hotel Sweets

Bought the following sweets at Marriott Hotel's Bakeshop:

*Brownies

I were told that its their bestseller and that it doesn't have nuts. What it has are caramel swirled in with the brownies.
I didn't like it as all I can taste was sweetness or all caramel and none of the chocolate.

*Assorted Cookies
- strawberry, oatmeal, walnut, pistachio, crinkles (most ordered cookie in their shop) and butter eclair (not sure with the name)
Photobucket
Strawberry
- with white chocolate chunks
- it almost tasted bland when eaten right after the crinkles. But I like it as it wasn't that sweet, and that it was moist, soft and chewy, like it has coconuts in it.
Oatmeal
- just like any oatmeal cookie
-  moist and not that sweet
Walnut
- the big walnut in the middle tasted stale and ruined the whole chocolate cookie experience.
Pistachio
- also not that sweet, moist and tasted like it has coconuts. Didn't taste like pistachio but had quite a number of pistachio nuts scattered in the cookie.
Crinkles
- crispy and very sweet.
Butter eclair
- the butter cookie alone was bland, the chocolate coating alone was slightly bland too, but together they were okay.

*Rocky Road Bark
Photobucket
- milk chocolate, nuts and marshmallows
- I didn't think I would like it but I did, a lot. I was sad I just bought one pack and not more. It wasn't that sweet and it had almost everything that I like. A great pre-bed snack with tea. But better if it's dark chocolate and not milk chocolate. Tasted like Cadbury's chocolates too.

There were a lot more to try. Like their assorted truffles, dark chocolate, dark chocolate with nutella, white chocolate bark, strawberry white chocolate bark and huge heart-shaped cookies that can be shared by 8 people.

Bread Monster

The first time I tried them at Market Market, I was very impressed, that I can't stop thinking about their S'mores and the chunks of chocolate in it.

So I was very happy when I spotted them again at Trinoma after my autograph signing session with Kim Hyun Joong.

I bought 4 pieces of the S'mores Cookies and 4 pieces of the Dark Chocolate Cookies. Both their best sellers. Their number 1 and 2 top sellers.

When I went home I was excited to eat the S'mores but noticed a change in everything. Although the chunks of chocolate were still present, the taste and the chewiness were slightly altered unfavorably, that I just ate the chocolate chunks and discard the rest. Same with the Dark Chocolate. It wasn't chewy, nor moist, but just plain hard and crumbly. The dark chocolate taste wasn't prominent too. Too bad as I was impressed with our first meeting. I don't know if there's just no consistency in their products or if they change their recipes. Whatever it is,  I just hope that they'll bring back the old cookies that I love.

Subway

I was on my way to my sister's house when I decided to make a pit stop at Subway in Blue Wave.

I was a frequent subway customer way back in 1997, with my favorites such as the Trio with a bottomless drink and chips and I don't know what it was called, but just a plain bun (not a sub) with ham and cheese and then toasted. I can eat that everyday then.

Fast forward to 2011. The bun that I used to have was not available and even the sub choices were limited.
But since I wanted a chicken sandwich ( as I am still lusting over the Chicken Salad Croissant of French Baker), I ordered the Roasted Chicken Sub.

How to order:

STEP 1 - FOOTLONG OR 6-INCH
Photobucket
- I chose 6-inch

STEP 2 - CHOOSE YOUR BREAD
Photobucket
- I chose honey oat (only two choices were available, parmesan and honey oat)

STEP 3 - CHOOSE YOUR VEGGIES
Photobucket
- I wanted everything except the pickles (which I just read yesterday from a health book, that eating pickles was like eating a saltshaker), olives and jalapeno

STEP 4 - CHOOSE YOUR SAUCE
Photobucket
- I asked the staff what she thought would go best with my sub, and she said honey mustard, mayo and red wine vinegar to blend the two

STEP 5 - MAKE IT A MEAL
Photobucket
- Sprite for drinks, and double chocolate and chocolate chip cookies for my sides.

When the sub was handed to me and I opened the wrapper and also the sub to take a pic, I thought that she forgot to put the chicken. It was hard to see the chicken with all the veggies and the dressings. The chicken too was just half an inch thick or maybe less. There was also mayo overload on my sub and the wrapper was already soaked even before I could take a bite.

Photobucket

The chicken though, even if it wasn't that big, was tender and has this fresh taste. I would have liked and enjoyed the sub if not for the overload of mayo (I like mayo, I even request it for fries and on my sandwiches, but I just want enough of it and not too much, cos if I want that much mayo I'll order mayo sandwich and not roasted chicken). Mayo was all I can taste that I removed a lot of it before I was able to taste the chicken and the rest of my sub.

I like the double chocolate than the chocolate chip, but both were too sweet.

Borough

Last Friday, my friend and I, after meeting at Megamall and doing a lot of clothes shopping at Forever 21 and book shopping at National Bookstore, went to Podium for dinner.

As I have read a lot of good reviews about Borough, I cajoled,  rather, dragged my friend to eat there.

Photobucket

My friend had the Sole Amandine.

Photobucket

I told him to order the Fried Chicken with Pumpkin Waffles instead and then we'll split our orders, but he was too keen on the Amandine. Even after telling him that I don't plan to split orders with him if he ordered that. Which he later regretted after taking a bite of his order.

Actually, he did not stop complaining. He said that it was too oily, that I kept on reminding him that it's supposed to be oily as it is with brown butter sauce.

I often order fish with lemon butter sauce but this version of Borough with brown butter was indeed not good  and was oilier than it should. Beyond anybody's limit. It was too salty too, even the beans (also too oily), and the jasmine rice were overcooked ( more like over fried)

His order was like eating oil and salt but with a P410 price tag. That after just two bites he stopped eating it. I tried to finish it for him but can't. I felt I might get sick if I did.

While I ordered the Chili's Chicken.

Photobucket

I didn't like the mango salsa, but like the buttery brioche bun, the tender and juicy chicken burger and the green dressing. But as with all of our orders that night, this too was tooooo oily, that you feel you might get sick after. The fries too were oily, over fried and bitter.

For dessert I had the Mom's Milk and Cookies

Photobucket

The cookies were made to order and with choices like ginger and cinnamon, chocolate chips and cranberry oatmeal.

Photobucket

They were soft, hot and oily when served on our table. I like the ginger and cinnamon which has this unusual but delicious taste, while the chocolate chips were my least favorite.

Their milk compared to the usual milk, was creamier, thicker and sweeter and had this distinct vanilla taste, like the ice cream

Photobucket
Photobucket

We didn't like our orders that much as they were too oily and salty that evening. Too bad as the owner was very friendly and even visited our table to ask if we enjoyed our orders. We were shy to tell him the truth that we just said that we did.

The interiors too were confusing with the antique mirrors on display on one wall and the barn-like bathroom door entrance and the light sconces on one side. Basically it was a mix n match of different design concepts.

There were no coordination too with the waitresses and waiters. One told us to wait at the bar for our table to be set-up only for another to give it to another customer.

Would we go back? I don't think so.

Singapore Eats - Bengawan Solo Sugee

Photobucket
- it has the taste of a lengua de gato, and its texture a cross between polvoron and a shortbread.
It also reminded me of my childhood snack of powdered milk and sugar.

Photobucket
I really love snacking on these, so much, that I can finish an entire tray/container in one sitting.

The Macadamia Cashew Sugee is also good, if you want it just a little coarse, gritty, because of the nuts, but it will still melt in your mouth.
