Pepper Lunch Robinsons Place

I bought a thousand peso worth of voucher at Deal Grocer for Pepper Lunch Robinsons, for my husband and I to use. It's my nth time here but a first for my husband.

He ordered the Beef Teriyaki Rice, Red Grape Cooler and Molten ala Mode.

He liked everything, especially the beef pepper rice. He said that it's "malasa" and was hot up to his last bite. And the cake was moist and chocolatey, even the grape cooler was made of real red grapes and not from a concentrate.

I always have salmon here, that afternoon I still ordered the Salmon Pepper Rice with extra fish but now also with extra curry and extra cheese. I love this combination more. I love how every spoonful has melted cheese. And I no longer have to put extra seasoning as it was already tasty. Next time though, I plan to double the cheese and triple the extra salmon.

With my salmon pepper rice I added an order of Hot Green Tea, Choco and Nuts and Shake Shake Spicy Tuna Salad.

My husband liked everything that we came back the next day and the day after.

Borough

Last Friday, my friend and I, after meeting at Megamall and doing a lot of clothes shopping at Forever 21 and book shopping at National Bookstore, went to Podium for dinner.

As I have read a lot of good reviews about Borough, I cajoled,  rather, dragged my friend to eat there.

My friend had the Sole Amandine.

I told him to order the Fried Chicken with Pumpkin Waffles instead and then we'll split our orders, but he was too keen on the Amandine. Even after telling him that I don't plan to split orders with him if he ordered that. Which he later regretted after taking a bite of his order.

Actually, he did not stop complaining. He said that it was too oily, that I kept on reminding him that it's supposed to be oily as it is with brown butter sauce.

I often order fish with lemon butter sauce but this version of Borough with brown butter was indeed not good  and was oilier than it should. Beyond anybody's limit. It was too salty too, even the beans (also too oily), and the jasmine rice were overcooked ( more like over fried)

His order was like eating oil and salt but with a P410 price tag. That after just two bites he stopped eating it. I tried to finish it for him but can't. I felt I might get sick if I did.

While I ordered the Chili's Chicken.

I didn't like the mango salsa, but like the buttery brioche bun, the tender and juicy chicken burger and the green dressing. But as with all of our orders that night, this too was tooooo oily, that you feel you might get sick after. The fries too were oily, over fried and bitter.

For dessert I had the Mom's Milk and Cookies

Photobucket

The cookies were made to order and with choices like ginger and cinnamon, chocolate chips and cranberry oatmeal.

Photobucket

They were soft, hot and oily when served on our table. I like the ginger and cinnamon which has this unusual but delicious taste, while the chocolate chips were my least favorite.

Their milk compared to the usual milk, was creamier, thicker and sweeter and had this distinct vanilla taste, like the ice cream

We didn't like our orders that much as they were too oily and salty that evening. Too bad as the owner was very friendly and even visited our table to ask if we enjoyed our orders. We were shy to tell him the truth that we just said that we did.

The interiors too were confusing with the antique mirrors on display on one wall and the barn-like bathroom door entrance and the light sconces on one side. Basically it was a mix n match of different design concepts.

There were no coordination too with the waitresses and waiters. One told us to wait at the bar for our table to be set-up only for another to give it to another customer.

Would we go back? I don't think so.

Bacolod Chk-n-BBQ House

Another one of our Sundays out. Now we were a little late for the restaurants inside the mall, and we were carrying a lot of shopping bags (more like groceries), that we were also too lazy to bring to the car, that we settled for a restaurant near the supermarket, Bacolod Chk-n-BBQ House.

Photobucket

They also must be good because there were a lot of diners that night, they were full to capacity.

Since there were five of us, we just ordered Set Number 5, which comes with 4 Chicken Inasal (paa or pecho), Chicken Sisig, 4 Garlic Rice, 4 Baticolon (Gizzard) or Atay (Liver) and a tower of Iced Tea or Lemonade. And added an order of Pecho Inasal (comes with atchara and garlic rice), Chopsuey, La Paz Batchoy, Puto Manapla (which were good paired with their La Paz Batchoy) and Halo-Halo for dessert.

I like that compared to Mang Inasal theirs (Bacolod Chk'n) were not oily but still were "malasa".

Their Chopsuey too were good. Same as their Halo-Halo. Which was full of sago, gulaman, beans, red monggo, langka, sweetened bananas and ice cream. I just don't like how easy the ice melted. It was very fast. Maybe even faster than the guys at Fast and the Furious.

Racks Fish and Chips

I have always wanted to try their Fish and Chips. My sister said that it was better than their Baby Back Ribs.

That intrigued me.

So when I was shopping alone in Robinsons Place and  was looking for somewhere to eat, aside from Banana Leaf (I love their Roti with Curry Sauce a lot), I went here.

Photobucket

I was to order Fish and Chips right off the bat, but my eyes were caught by the "with biscuits and honey" statement with their Whole Fried Chicken order. That got me confused, as I do love biscuits and honey. I pondered over it for a while, asking the waitress a lot of questions before settling for my first choice of Fish and Chips. I'll just have the Fried Chicken next time.

I was expecting something big, with the P310 price, but it was just as small as the personal size fish of Fish and Co. Fish and Co even have big fries. And it was hard to distinguish its taste with the crunch I was getting from the breading. It was so overpowering, I can't taste nor feel anymore the fish inside.

Ming Yuen

As my husband was waiting for me at Robinsons Place, he saw a standee of a newly-opened Chinese restaurant near the basement parking entrance, which said, how real Chinese food taste like. He was intrigued by the statement, that he wanted us to eat there.

We ordered some of their best sellers. The Okiam Chicken, which the waitress described as yellowish in color with sauce, but were more like small fried chicken pieces with sweet and spicy dip. The Pickled Mixed Noodle with Spareribs were like Nissin Yakisoba. While the Fish Fillet with Green Pepper has a mild, almost bland taste, and the same thing goes with their Yangchou Fried Rice.

KKK

For dinner we ate at KKK. As we were still full from our late lunch at French Baker, we just ordered a few dishes.

We had their Pampanga (Pork) and Bangus Sisig, the Bangus being better than the Pork version. Sinigang na Tuna Belly, Ilokanong Bagnet, Garlic Pusit, Halo-Halo and Suman

All just okay food. I just don't like their Halo-Halo which was too sweet and doesn't have that much ingredients.

Didn't have any problem though with their wait staff as they were very attentive and nice.

Also, the interiors of the restaurant were quite interesting, with the jeepney design that separates the preparation area from the dining area and the bottle chandeliers.
