Anyways, as I still want to buy something sweet to celebrate Valentine's Day, I just bought a whole Chocolate Cake from Cafe Mary Grace (no photo), Red Velvet and Blue Velvet Cupcakes and Roca from Park Avenue Desserts

Park Avenue Desserts Cupcakes and Roca
I ordered a Glamour Cake from The Sweet Life of Angie for pick-up last Thursday, February 12, but had problems communicating with them thru viber. I ordered Sunday, but got a reply only on Monday evening, telling me that they can't process my order unless I make a 50% downpayment thru bank deposit. Thus, I asked right away for their bank account details, so I can deposit it Tuesday morning. I didn't get a reply after that. I only got a message Thursday evening telling me to pick-up my order that same day. For which I answered that I don't need it anymore. I was also supposed to buy a Pink Daydream flower arrangement from them. I was really looking forward for both orders, that I was really disappointed with the way they handled my orders.

Chocolat Red Velvet Cupcake
I chanced upon their Red Velvet Cupcake on my way to SM Hypermarket. As a piece is just P35, I bought a couple to try.
They were not great, just an okay cupcake for its price.

Slice Cupcakes
I've been hearing good reviews of their cupcakes. So after buying pizzas at Nolita, I went down at slice to buy some cupcakes. I asked for their best sellers and were told they are Red Velvet and Yema Cupcakes.
I bought one of each. I had to pay an additional P10 for the box as I was having it to go.
Back at home, I tasted first the Yema. The Yema Cupcake was moist and sweet, while the Red Velvet was dry and tasteless.
I don't think they are worth the extra effort of going to Bonifacio Highstreet just for their cupcakes. I still prefer Sonja's Cupcakes.

A day of favorites
I went to powerplant mall to exchange something that I bought in ever new last sunday. But before I went to ever new, I had lunch first at CPK.
I saw that they have a promotion for the month of february, 2 personal size pizza for 499. California club and italian sausage with pepper. I wanted to order that but I really miss eating my favorite original BBQ chicken pizza, so that's what I ordered, plus raspberry iced tea.
While waiting for the pizza, I drank two glasses of iced tea that when the pizza was served, I was already too full to eat. In short, I just had the pizza to go.
After exchanging the iphone bag, I went at the basement and bought a chocolate cupcake and a cookie at little miss OC's booth.
The cookie and cupcake were both moist and bitter (dark chocolate bitter).
Then off to glorietta and greenbelt I went.
I bought a centennial loaf at the baguio country club section in heaven and eggs glorietta. It's a smaller loaf of their famous raisin bread. I also bought a red velvet and valrhona chocolate cupcake at vanilla cupcake bakery.
For dinner I had carbonara at shakey's. And for dessert, my favorite avocado shake at seattle's best. Then I bought a box of 6 of my favorite macarons at TWG. Can you call this day a day of favorites?

Vanilla Cupcake Bakery
While at glorietta I saw a woman carrying a cute bag of cupcakes, I wanted to ask her where she bought them but she walked very fast.
Still I was estatic as on my way to SM Makati I walked past Vanilla Cupcake Bakery and saw the same package the woman was carrying on display.
When I asked what's their best seller I were told that it's Red Velvet but it's already sold out, next would be the vanilla Pink, Bubblegum, and Banana Hazelnut. I was ready to buy the Vanilla Pink but saw a staff put 3 Red Velvet on display. I told her to reserve them for me. Lucky me.
I wanted to eat the cupcake at their pretty and comfortable dining area but since I still have a lot of things to buy before the mall's close, I just had them to go.
It was good, not too sweet as the staff said. I would definitely go back and buy myself some more Red Velvet and try their Fudge Brownie and maybe this time eat them there.

Sophie's Mom
I have read about Sophie's Mom on a fashion blog I follow. She raved about their cupcakes and truffles.
So when I saw their kiosk in Megamall I immediately bought a couple of sweets to try.

They were slightly pricey for their size, and the fact that they are not that famous. I just reasoned to myself that maybe they are so good and that they use high quality ingredients, that's why.
I bought one each of their cupcakes.

The Red Velvet, which is allegedly their bestseller, has a very bland cream cheese topping, and the cupcake base although moist, was not that good.

The Tres Leches with Lemon has a very bland topping too. The cupcake base was also not that good.

The Chocolate Ganache was the one I was able to tolerate. I like the ganache topping on the cupcake, the moist sponge cake and the yema filling.

I also bought a piece of their Red Velvet Cookie. The seller told me that it is a chewy cookie and that it has cream cheese and chocolate chips incorporated in the cookie. I was sold.

A chewy red velvet cookie with chocolate chips, who wouldn't love that.
But when I took a bite of the cookie, it was not a chewy but rather a crumbly and crispy cookie. It was very sweet and the white part in it doesn't even taste like cream cheese.
I suggest they re-evaluate their products or else they wouldn't have repeat customers.

Blushing Cupcakes
I passed by them on my way home. They were along the Sky Garden in SM the Block.
I asked for their best sellers and were told that they are Carrot and Red Velvet. Since I was not in the mood for a Carrot Cupcake, I just bought the Red Velvet (P33.00) plus their Frosted White Chocolate (P27.00)

Both didn't taste of chocolate or if they do, just a little. The icing of the Frosted White Chocolate was similar in taste to Costa Brava's White Birthday Cake but of inferior quality. While the Red Velvet's icing was the sweet type and not the cream cheese one. The cupcake base was also dense, almost dry.

Sonja's Other Cupcakes

Last week at Sonja's I bought their Mint Condition, Red Velvet Vixen, Chocolate Surprise and Blondie Bar.

MINT CONDITION P68.00
- chocolate cupcake with frothy mint buttercream sprinkled with chocolate chips
The lady who took my orders told me that compared to their Peppermint Cupcake, their Mint Condition is mild in taste.
It really was mild, mild bordering blandness. It was so mild that it was hard to describe how it tasted. At some point though it reminded me of their Vanilla Sunshine but with a chocolate cake base.

RED VELVET VIXEN P70.00
- traditional southern cupcake made with belgian cocoa and cream cheese icing
I like the cream cheese icing and the belgian chocolate combination. It did worked for me. I just hope that they'll add more cream cheese icing because personally, it wasn't enough.

CHOCOLATE SURPRISE P68.00
- valrhona chocolate cupcake topped with either vanilla buttercream or creamy chocolate frosting
It was just an okay-tasting cupcake with a moist chocolate cake base.

BLONDIE BAR P85.00
- with valrhona chocolate bits, coconut and pecans

At first bite I like it, with the dark and white chocolate chunks and the pecan nuts, but when all of that was gone and I was left with just the coconut base, I wasn't that fond of it.
