Goldilocks, Pepper Lunch and Happy Lemon

I went out today to buy some groceries and stuff for my son. But before doing that I ate first at Goldilocks. The last time I was there I wanted to order the fish fillet meal with garden fried rice, but they ran out of fillet, so I ordered the chicken meal. Today they ran out of garden fried rice, but I said that plain rice would be fine. The set comes with drinks, that I changed to pineapple juice, and cathedral cake.

After I was done with my errands, I had snacks (:-) ) at Pepper Lunch of my favorite salmon pepper rice with extra fish and cheese. For drinks I bought Happy Lemon's matcha adzuki smoothie with extra rocksalt and pearls.

Pepper Lunch

My friend and I went out very late in the afternoon just to eat at Pepper Lunch. We both ordered the Jumbo Beef Pepper Rice and Goma Soft-Serve Ice Cream.

We were both disappointed as the beef were mostly fatty parts, like more than half. Also, that even with the hot temperature inside the restaurant (Mall of Asia branch), the hot plate cooled off easily leaving us with most of the beef still uncooked. The soda too lacked carbonation that we had it replaced, only to be given another soda still without carbonation. In the end, we just drank plain water.

Pepper Lunch Vanilla Crepe ala Mode

I have eaten at Pepper Lunch countless of times, but it was my first time to try their Vanilla Crepe ala Mode.

Photobucket

I like the light vanilla cream in between the crepes. It made the crepe less sinful.

Photobucket

I was not a fan of the ice cream that day though, as it melted too easily. It was like a shake even before I took a spoonful. Must be because of the temperature that day inside their store. It was very hot, and the heat from the plates were not helping.

Pepper Lunch + Red Mango

My first time to order the Chicken Pepper Rice with extra chicken.

I didn't like it and the chicken smelled funny. Should have ordered my favorite Salmon instead.

Dessert was at Red Mango.

I had the medium Green Tea Swirl with dezato mochi balls, chocolate chips and cheesecake. Love everything on my cup.

MOA and S&R

I met up with a friend last Tuesday. We're supposed to meet November 30 to watch Sarah and Gerald's movie but decided to make it a day earlier as we both know that a non-working holiday means more people in the mall and cinema.

We had an early lunch first at Pepper Lunch. She had the Beef Pepper Rice with extra meat and cheese (my recommendation), Mashed Potato and Coke, while I had my usual Salmon Pepper Rice with extra fish, cheese and curry, and Hot Green Tea.

After our lunch we did a few minutes of walking and then it was dessert time. Since she haven't yet tried Sebastian's, I recommended we had dessert there.

I would have wanted to try the Black and White Waffle or the Ice Cream Pizza but decided otherwise as I was still a little bit full from lunch.

We both ordered Chilly Burgers. I had the Midnight Truffle while she had the Fudge Truffle. She liked it a  lot. I do too. Always.

After dessert, we went out of Mall of Asia to shop and eat some more at S&R.

Photobucket

My friend knows me well when she said I know what you'll fill your cart with the most. And she was right. I filled it mostly with food.

There were a lot of new baked items there. Some from Sugar Bowl Bakery, like Madeleines, Petite Brownie Bites and Petite Palmiers. But I was won over by the brownie bites, as I have read in one of Kris Aquino's tweets that Jed Madela hand-carried her favorite brownie bites from Canada, although this brownie bites are from San Francisco and not Canada, but still a brownie bite is a brownie bite. It's also written there that it has no trans fat and no cholesterol and at only 130 calories a piece.

You can enjoy it right out of the container or warmed-up. I did both.

Photobucket

Right out of the container I found it very sweet and uninteresting, but when warmed it almost tasted like a lava/molten cake. It sure does go well with an ice cream.

I also bought another new find, the Hazelnut Truffle Muffin. As I love trying anything with the word truffle, I bought a pack of four even without sampling it first.

Photobucket

At home I first sampled the one with oozing hazelnut truffle. The hazelnut truffle tasted like a Ferrero chocolate. But the amount of truffle in the muffin wasn't enough for its size. You'll be left with a lot of just plain  tasting chocolate muffin.

And after filling my cart with some more food and unnecessary stuff, it was now time for dinner.
My friend ordered the Beef Baked Roll, while I had the Chicken Baked Roll and Fries.

I love how cheesy the baked roll was. I just don't like the bacon inside, which had this weird taste and smell. While the fries were very thick, had this fresh potato taste and just lightly salted. I just don't like the taste of the mayo on the condiments area, and also the too tangy tartar sauce for the baked roll.

Overall, I had a great time. What a great day spent with a friend, filled with a lot of shopping and food. How I wish every day can be like this. Just eating every thing you like, doing things you love to do and spending time with the people you love. Just having fun.

P.S. Just after paying for my purchases and on my way to the dining area, I saw their display cases of baked goods on sale per piece and slice. What! I should have seen it before to sample first the pastries before buying bulk of it inside. Next time. Better late than never. They even sell cheesecakes by the slice, and also muffins per piece. And cookies, and a whole lot more.

Pepper Lunch Sunday

My brother-in-law loves Pepper Lunch so much, that our recent sunday family get together lunch was held at Pepper Lunch in Greenbelt 5.

Two ordered the usual Beef Pepper Rice with Shake Shake Kani Salad. Another two ordered the Curry Beef Pepper Rice with Extra Egg and Mini Salad and another two had the Unagi/Salmon with Pepper Rice.

I ordered the Unagi/Salmon with Pepper Rice, Shake Shake Spicy Tuna Salad and Lychee Cooler for drinks.

I don't drink anything other than water nowadays but ordered the lychee cooler for a chance to win a flip video :-) I ordered the cooler with less syrup.

Photobucket

Unlike other supposedly lychee drinks, Pepper Lunch Lychee Cooler does use lychee. I even came across some mini lychee in the cooler.

I really like the Unagi and Salmon Combo of Pepper Lunch. Actually it is my usual order in Pepper Lunch and the Spicy Tuna Salad.

I tried my niece's Curry Beef Pepper Rice, and it has a strong curry taste, just the dry variety/kind and not the saucy type that I am used to.

Pepper Lunch

Since you are to cook it yourself, how it will taste will be entirely up to you.

UNAGI (EEL)
The Unagi (eel), which is sprinkled with wasabi powder on top was very tasty, as in very tasty. No need to put anything. While the salmon's taste was what a salmon should taste like, salty.

Goma Soft - Serve

I ordered again my favorite Beef Pepper Rice at Pepper Lunch Shang and for dessert I tried their Goma Soft-Serve (P39.00)

Photobucket
Photobucket
Soft-serve ice cream topped with black sesame paste and sesame seeds.

Photobucket
The black sesame tasted of chocolate and buchi that it made me liked it more than their kuromitsu (caramel-flavored). It was also presented like a vanilla sundae with chocolate frosting.

Photobucket
I love everything in this dessert, the taste and presentation, and especially its affordable price.

Pepper Lunch

Out again with my friend Anjean, we had dinner at Pepper Lunch in Powerplant Mall. Fortunately that time of night there were no long lines.

Photobucket
We had the same order of Beef Pepper Rice P235 (set, with your choice of drinks), Chocolate Lava Cake P120 and Kuromitsu P30.

Photobucket
When it came it was sizzling hot, we turned the beef around so that it would cook thoroughly (depending on your preference). We also mixed the rice and corn kernels with the butter in the middle, while adding the sauce (honey brown for us).

Photobucket
The aroma itself was already satiating. The Beef Pepper Rice was incredibly tasty, flavourful and a little bit spicy from the pepper. The beef was very tender and tasty as well. Overall, it was a truly satisfying and complete meal by itself.

Photobucket
We never stop gushing how good it was, we were both truly satisfied. We even wanted to buy their Honey Brown Sauce, but unfortunately they don’t sell it =(

Photobucket
Our desserts of Chocolate Lava Cake and Kuromitsu were later served.

Photobucket
The Lava Cake was moist and a little bit bitter from the cocoa dusting on top. It was served warm with a gooey center. I think it needs more chocolate.

Photobucket
Photobucket
The Kuromitsu is vanilla ice cream with caramelized brown sugar. It was sweet and tasted of “arnibal”, the one use for our sago’t gulaman and taho. It complements well with the Lava Cake.

Photobucket
We would definitely come back for their Beef Pepper Steak, their other steak combinations and may be their Matcha Cheesecake too.
