Here are just some of my favorites that I got to eat last weekend:
Apartment 1B Home Fries P70/order
Though they were still as good as ever, I just noticed that they're not as many as before. Also the sauce/flavorings weren't enough for the amount of fries.
Polly's Chocolate Cake (7 in round) P220
Still chocolatey and fudgy.
Starbucks Green Tea Frap (Grande) P155
Forever delicious, just too liquidy (my recent order).

These were delicious, like Royce in a way that they’ll melt in your mouth. But unlike Royce, their truffles were more appealing and came in more flavours.
I liked their Fleur (gianduja and ganache dark chocolate) and Chestnut Truffle.

HK Eats - Main Street Corner Café Part II
Because we liked their food from our first visit, we came back for dinner that same day.
We ordered the Chicken Steak Ramen and Seafood Platter.
We had the Chicken Steak Ramen in Pork Bone Soup with Japanese Dumplings for HK$80.
I liked that the base stock was perfectly-seasoned and that the noodles were also cooked just right. I also liked the teriyaki taste of the tender chicken and the crunch of the corn.
The Main Street Sampler HK$80 has deep-fried BBQ wings, shrimp dumplings, fish fillets, spring rolls, samosas and French fries, served with honey mustard sauce.
The egg roll, samosas and shrimps all tasted the same, they were also all good. Same goes with the fries that were also perfectly-seasoned. While the honey mustard sauce complemented to the overall taste of the platter.
For dessert we had the Coconut Red Bean Crepe with Ice Cream HK$38 and Mickey Mouse Waffle with Black and White Ice Cream HK$42.
The Red Bean Crepe has red beans (duh!) and whipped cream filling. Topped with a scoop of ice cream and strawberries.
The crepe was indeed creamy and soft. I didn’t taste the coconut any where in my dessert though, but I still like it. It was one of the best crepes I had especially since I like red beans.
The Mickey Waffles has 2 mickey mouse-shaped waffles topped with ice cream.
They might looked delicious but they weren’t. They were just okay though. They would have been better if they have any kind of syrup on it. I still like the ice cream though.

UCC
Before watching the invitational screening of Confessions of a Shopaholic (an entertaining movie, if I may say so) in Glorietta 4, my friend and I had a late lunch in UCC Rockwell.
I had the Hayashi Burger Steak P385 and Macha Parfait P219. My friend had the same but with an additional Chocolait Milk Shake P169.
Hayashi is a dish of stewed beef and onions in gravy. The Hayashi Burger Steak comes with rice and corn side salad. The steak itself was thick but bland. I think it needed more spice like salt and pepper. While the hayashi sauce has lots of onions in it and too few mushrooms. I also think that it’s a bit expensive for such an average-tasting dish.
The Macha Parfait has layers of whipped cream, adzuki beans, assorted fruits and green tea ice cream. The ice cream has too strong green tea taste, almost bordering bitterness. I still prefer Kozui’s Green Tea Ice Cream and Anmitsu over UCC’s Parfait. The rest of its ingredients were just okay.
The Chocolait Milk Shake according to my friend was good and not too sweet, just the way he likes it.

Or Japanese Pancake, in New flavours of Chocolate Chips P15, Chocolate Pancake P15 and Ube P15 and P18 for one filling of either Cheese, Cream Cheese, Strawberry or Peanut Butter.
I saw this in the Saturday Salcedo Market. I bought the Chocolate Pancake with Cream Cheese Filling P18, but was given the one without filling unknowingly.
The pancake was good eaten right away, when it’s soft, moist and warm. The butter inside added another texture to the soft and creamy pancake.
I hope to try the real chocolate pancake with cream cheese filling soon.

Marciano's
Before watching When I Met You, my friend and I had lunch at Marvin Agustin’s new resto in Greenbelt 3, Marciano’s.
We ordered Times Square Lobster,Prawn, Fish and Chips P489, Manhattan Meat Pizza P308 and Freshly-Brewed Iced Tea P88.
While waiting for our orders, we were given Crostinis with 3 dips (balsamic with olive oil, pate and marinara). Of the three I liked the balsamic with olive oil more.
Our orders arrived just a minute behind the complimentary crostinis.
The Lobster,Prawn,Fish and Chips have battered and fried lobsters, fish and prawns and potato chips for the chips. It was served with 2 dips (a red and white one).
Of course the white one was better than the red one. I also love how chewy, moist, soft and salty the lobster was. I was just sad that it only has few of it. The potato chips were just okay, fries would have been better substitutes.
The Meat Pizza has assorted meats on a cracker-like crust.
I love that it’s jampacked with meats, it has meatballs, bacon, ham and pepperoni. What I don’t like about it were the crust that although paper-thin, needed a lot of pull to eat, the taste, it was too salty on random areas of the pizza and the price, P308 for that size and average taste of a pizza.
The Iced Tea tasted fresh according to my friend. It was also good value for your money. P88 for that gigantur glass of freshly-brewed iced tea.
Overall, the resto has that classy but still homey feel to it. When it comes to their food, it’s mediocre and overpriced.
And since it’s Valentine’s Day, a long-stemmed rose from Holland Tulips and a medium pack of Hershey’s Dark Chocolate Kisses were given to moviegoers of When I Met You. Talked about thoughtful (on their part) and economical (on my/our part).

I love Japanese food more if not as much as my niece, pa-chan. So it’s a no-brainer that I’ll try a new Japanese snack bar as soon as it opens.
I had the Takoyaki P75/8 pcs, Tako Burger P88 and Adzuki Green Tea Premium Crepe P105.
Their Takoyaki was soft, chewy and has that distinct taste of Octopus in it. The sauce complemented to the overall taste of the Takoyaki.
The Tako burger (or Octopus burger) also has that distinct taste of Octopus, a little bit salty too. Its texture was also a little bit weird, it’s crunchy and firm but also soft and chewy.
What I don’t like in the burger was the soggy and minute coleslaw. It would have been better if it’s crunchy (just like Sango’s) and if there’s a lot of it in the burger.
My dessert of Adzuki Crepe was just okay. It has adzuki beans, cornflakes, whipped cream and green tea gelato. I had this on two occasions. The first time the crepe was “makunat”, the second time it was soft and creamy. I was just disappointed that I have to dig deep to get to that cold green tea gelato and that I have to pass by a thick layer of cream. I also felt that the adzuki crepe was too warm because all I have been getting was the warm adzuki beans and the cream and only later on did I get to taste the gelato.
