Tinapayan's Cream Puff

This is the Mc daddy of cream puffs.

Photobucket
Everyone I introduce this to loved it even more than I do. Even those that don't like sweets and grown men loved it.

I introduced this to colleagues (men who don't like sweets) from work when I was made in-charge of the food for our general meeting. Ever since then they purchase this on their own. Even asking our delivery riders to buy it for them a couple of times a week.

Photobucket
***the caramel glaze melted because I exposed these to heat for 10 hours, when I went to a spa party with these puffs with me***

Another instance was when I rode a cab going to and from Tinapayan to buy cream puffs. On the way home, he (the driver)asked me, if it was worth the time and money. I answered by giving him a piece to try. He ate it right away and even licked the bottom liner. He then said that now he understood and would even come back to buy some for himself and his family.

Photobucket
Crunchy and sweet caramel glaze, soft choux pastry and creamy custard.

I can eat it every hour of the day and will never tire.

It felt like eating a slice of heaven. No words can describe how good it is.

Even my husband and brother-in-law fought for a piece of this with me.

Photobucket
Surely anyone eating it will definitely lose their sense of self and reasoning and would just want to have more of it.

Jollibee Steak ala Pobre

Photobucket
Burger steak with butter garlic gravy and crunchy garlic chips.

This is way better than their regular burger steak. The smell itself was already satiating, it's not the usual steak or grilled smell, it's something different. And the taste, it's garlicky, buttery, sweet and salty.

It has become my regular order from Jollibee. It's the first thing that comes to my mind when I'm thinking of what to eat.

Ice Monster Brownie Fudge

Photobucket
Photobucket
Since it is still hot and humid nowadays, I indulged myself to an order of Ice Monster's Brownie Fudge.

Photobucket
Photobucket
Swirls of choco fudge and caramel syrup over chunks of brownies and choco drops, topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and finished with choco-wafer sticks.

Photobucket
Everything in here tasted great. The brownies were moist and fudgy, the ice cream was creamy, the caramel was dark and sweet and the choco drops were crunchy. They (Ice Monster)were also generous with their ingredients.

Photobucket
Inspite of all that, I found it weird eating the Brownie Fudge. It's the first time I had my brownies with crushed ice. But with that aside, I enjoyed eating it.

Pavilion Brownies

Photobucket
Chocolate brownie with walnuts topped with white chocolate, dusted with cocoa and decorated with chocolate cream rosette and white chocolate swirl.

Photobucket
I love the white chocolate layer in the brownie, but the brownie itself was too dry and crumbly. Good thing though that there were tremendous amounts of walnuts in it. It entertained me and took my mind away from the dry brownie.

Photobucket
Inspite of being dry, I would love to buy one again, just for the creamy white chocolate and the crunchy walnuts.

Starbucks Hazelnut Chantilly

I never lost hope, even when all the outlets I visited told me that it was already phased-out/discontinued, since it was just a limited/seasonal product.

Last Sunday, while scanning the display case of Starbucks for possible orders, I saw it, Starbucks Hazelnut Chantilly.

Photobucket
Layers of almond sponge cake, meringue, nougat, hazelnut butter cream icing, hazelnut praline & hazelnut mousse covered in a dark chocolate glaze and decorated with chocolate slab and white chocolate button, PHEW!

I love the macaroon-like sponge cake (in texture), the sweet, creamy and chocolatey mousse, the crunchy meringue, the chewy nougat, the bittersweet chocolate glaze and the white chocolate button. Basically, I love everything in this cake. It's delicious, with a variety of flavors and textures though still not the to-die-for kind.

Goldilocks Brazo

Photobucket
Meringue rolls with golden yellow custard filling. The crust has wavy design sprinkled with confectioner's sugar.

Photobucket
It has the same soft meringue as their Mango Angel Torte but better. Even if it only has soft meringue and custard, it definitely tasted better than their Mango Angel Torte, hands down.

Sugarhouse Turtle Pie

Photobucket
Combinations of nuts, soft caramel and smooth chocolate - a rendition of the popular turtle candies.

Photobucket
Sugarhouse's version of the Turtle Pie has mostly nuts and caramel and very thin chocolate crust that almost disappears. Still, I like it and would definitely buy one again.

Turk's Beef Shawarma

Photobucket
Beef with onions, tomatoes, lettuce and grated cheese wrapped in warm tortilla bread, topped with yogurt, cheese and chili sauces.

Photobucket
If I didn't know it, I would have guessed that the filling was pork longganisa instead of beef. The color, texture and taste were all similar to a longganisa. It was sweet with lots of fatty bits and pieces.

Photobucket
If you like longganisa you'll surely like the shawarma. But since I am not that fond of fatty longganisa, I like everything in the shawarma except it. The tortilla bread was so soft, even after a day in the chiller.

At some point though I experience a spine-chilling effect from the oily and fatty filling. Good thing though that I bought just the small and not the regular shawarma.

Red Box Buffet

Photobucket
Buffet + Bottomless Iced Tea + Free Room Use From 12noon to 3PM for P299 or P328 (net).

Photobucket
Photobucket
Reservation is recommended but not required. If you want a cheaper promotion though, go to their Trinoma branch instead. Where the Lunch Buffet goes for P199 only, a hundred pesos cheaper.
A reservation of a week in advance is recommended in their Trinoma branch, since it fills up easily especially during weekends.

The buffet starts at exactly 12noon and ends at 2PM.

The spread that day (Sunday) includes Salad Greens with different dressings, Asparagus with Tuna, Green Mango with Bagoong, Potato Salad and Corn Soup for Starters. Steamed White Rice, Spag Alfredo (Fettuccine with Olives), Dory Fish with Oyster Sauce, Spanish Chicken and Roast Pork with Creamy Cajun Sauce for Entrees/Main Dish and Fruit Salad with Buko, Pineapple and Apple for Dessert.

From the spreads my favorites were the Potato Salad, Fruit Salad, Dory Fish and Spanish Chicken that were all so good that I went back countless of times for refills.

Photobucket
Photobucket
The Spanish Chicken's sauce was very tasty. Sweet, spicy, creamy and rich but also thin. While the chicken was flaky and very tender.

The Dory Fish was similar to the Dynamite Chicken of Bubba Gump that crackles in your every bite.

Photobucket
The creamy cajun sauce of the roast pork was also good but not the roast pork itself, that though cut thinly was dry and hard.

Photobucket
The Fruit Salad only has buko, pineapple and apple but was still very refreshing and a very good way to end my buffet meal.

I wasn't able to get a decent photo of the buffet spread because it was either crowded with hungry people or empty. As soon as it was replenished it was gone in 60 seconds. Seemed like there were lots of hungry people that afternoon.

I recommend that they extend their promotion from 12noon to 3 PM to 12noon to 4 PM.

It was hard to sing while eating. This was not your pica-pica with drinks type of eating but the heavy kind. It was hard to take a bite then sing.

We only concentrated on singing after our meal, around 2PM. So we were only left with an hour of singing. But still found it hard to sing on full stomach.

I also recommend that they add more to their dessert choices like mini cakes and kakanins and offer other drinks aside from iced tea.

Quickly Taro Ice Special

Even with summer officially over, it was still very hot and humid last sunday, that a lot of people ate halo-halo or anything cold and with ice, I am no exception.

Parched and scared of dying from heat stroke, I stopped by Quickly and ordered myself their Taro Ice Special at P60.

Photobucket
Taro Ice + Nago (Nata and Sago) + Taro Pudding

I love taro, that it wouldn't be a surprise if I love Quickly's Taro Ice Special.

Photobucket
It was just what I needed that afternoon. Something not too sweet but very, very cold. Mission Accomplished!

Paotsin Dumpling Noodle Laksa

Laksa is a popular spicy noodle soup from Peranakan culture also known as Baba and Nyonya, which is a merger of Chinese and Malay elements found in Malaysia and Singapore - Wikipedia

The origin of the name "laksa" is unclear. One theory[1] traces it back to Hindi/Persian lakhshah, referring to a type of vermicelli. It has also been suggested[2] that "laksa" may also be derived from the Chinese word "la sha" (辣沙; pronounced "latsa" in Cantonese), meaning "spicy sand" due to the ground dried prawns which makes the gravy taste extremely sandy. The last theory[3] is that the name laksa is derived from the similar sounding word "dirty" in Hokkien due to its appearance - Wikipedia

Photobucket
Noodles with pork and beef wantons and sliced egg in a coconut curry broth. Served with soy sauce and chili.

It smelled of fish sauce but tasted of coconut.

Photobucket
Based on smell alone, you might rethink on eating it but as soon as you start sipping the broth you'll never stop. Even if it's in between thick and thin and was very oily, it was very flavorful.
