Max's Corner Bakery

I was at the mall almost every day for the past months, that I just confined myself to home and to a mini mall near my place for a week. And because of that, my dessert options were also limited to Red Ribbon, Goldilock's and Max's Corner Bakery.

I have tried mostly all of Red Ribbon's and Goldilocks' cakes and pastries that I decided to give Max's a chance this time.

I veered away from the usual Caramel Bars and instead bought assorted rolls. Mango Roll, Ube Roll, Pandan Roll and Quezo Cake Slice.

Photobucket

All their rolls were like roll versions of Red Ribbon's cakes, just sweeter.

Their Ube Roll tasted like Red Ribbon's Ube Cake only sweeter. Their Mango Roll tasted like Red Ribbon's Mango Cake, only sweeter.

Their Quezo Cake Slice was also sweet, moist and tart.

Karate Kid Mochi Halo Halo

I bought a facial package at Slimmer's World, and after availing my first treatment, I felt so hot, that I needed to eat or drink something cold.

I wanted to try KFC's Halo Halo Krushers but happened to pass by Karate Kid first and saw their new product, Mochi Halo Halo.

It looked appealing on the menuboard that I immediately bought one to try.

Photobucket

I was their only customer that it puzzled me how my order of halo halo took a long time to make.

When it arrived on my table, the ice has already melted. So it was more of a milk drink than a shaved ice one. It was also weird that it has mostly fruits (pineapple) than mochi and red monggo.

Photobucket

I didn't like it that much that I just ate the mochi and red monggo and left the rest to waste.

Kopiroti Kaya Puff

After our Chef d'Angelo dinner, we were ready to go home.

Along the way though we happened to pass by Resorts World Newport Mall and decided to make a pit stop. It was so inviting from the outside, that we decided to have a look-see. Luckily, the mall's time was extended that night to until 12MN. We still have a few more hours to look around and shop some more.

Just as we were shopping, we were offered free Resorts World membership with perks like a hundred peso slot credit, discounts on movie and show tickets and on participating shops and restos.

Photobucket

We signed in and immediately availed the hundred peso slot credit. I lost, but my preggy sister and her husband both won. My sister's even the big winner that day/night.

Because we were still full from our dinner we just had snacks at Kopiroti. We ordered Milk tea, Kopi, Iced Tea and lots of Kaya Puff, a new product, puff with kaya filling for P25 a piece.

We all liked it, from the pastry puff to the kaya filling, that we even bought a lot to take home.

Chef d'Angelo

We were supposed to watch a movie (Source Code) after Pepper Lunch, but shelved the idea and just walked around the mall and buy a lot of stuff. I even got to buy new accessories from Forever 21 :-)

The long and nonstop walking got us hungry and tired, that we decided to stop
at Chef d'Angelo for dinner and just to sit and rest our tired feet.

Photobucket

We ordered the Chicken ala Buffalo (5pieces), Seafood Medley, Creamy Chicken Pesto, Great White Pizza (9 inches), Cheese Fries and lots of extra ranch dressing (P30/each) and for dessert, Plain Waffle.

The chicken were big and tender, the pizza were tasty and the crust not oily, both pasta were good too. Although we ordered the Chicken Pesto and not the Creamy Chicken Pesto, but we just let it slide, we were too hungry and tired to complain.

The Cheese Fries were also good, just that the serving was little compared to its usual size.

There were only two desserts available that night, Plain and Chocolate Waffle. I chose the Plain Waffle with whipped cream and maple syrup.

The waffle's good too. Crunchy on the edges but soft and sweet inside, not too hollow too.

Pepper Lunch Sunday

My brother-in-law loves Pepper Lunch so much, that our recent sunday family get together lunch was held at Pepper Lunch in Greenbelt 5.

Two ordered the usual Beef Pepper Rice with Shake Shake Kani Salad. Another two ordered the Curry Beef Pepper Rice with Extra Egg and Mini Salad and another two had the Unagi/Salmon with Pepper Rice.

I ordered the Unagi/Salmon with Pepper Rice, Shake Shake Spicy Tuna Salad and Lychee Cooler for drinks.

I don't drink anything other than water nowadays but ordered the lychee cooler for a chance to win a flip video :-) I ordered the cooler with less syrup.

Photobucket

Unlike other supposedly lychee drinks, Pepper Lunch Lychee Cooler does use lychee. I even came across some mini lychee in the cooler.

I really like the Unagi and Salmon Combo of Pepper Lunch. Actually it is my usual order in Pepper Lunch and the Spicy Tuna Salad.

I tried my niece's Curry Beef Pepper Rice, and it has a strong curry taste, just the dry variety/kind and not the saucy type that I am used to.

Tokyo Cafe

Our saturday out did not stop at Cafe Breton.

Just an hour after our dessert crepes and 2hrs after our Friday's lunch, we were slightly ready for dinner. We ran out of things to do. And my preggy friend can't walk nonstop. Though now it was just two of us (my 7 month preggy friend and I). I can't think of anywhere else to eat that evening other than at Tokyo Cafe. It was nice that my preggy friend wanted to eat there too.

We walked from Trinoma to SM the Block just so we will have more room for the pasta and chicken of Tokyo Cafe.

Photobucket

We ordered Chicken and Cheese Roll and Garlic and Shrimp Pasta.

GARLIC AND SHRIMP PASTA (P258)

As expected, we liked both our orders. My preggy friend even asked me if I know how to make pasta like that of Tokyo Cafe, which was not too saucy but very tasty.
Up until that time we can't help but think of our TGI Friday's experience and shelling out that much. Actually, our total bill in Tokyo Cafe was just the amount of my chicken mushroom or even less than that.

Cafe Breton Deja Vu

We wanted to erase that bad experience from TGI friday's that we went to Cafe Breton to wallow in their sweet and sinful crepes.

Photobucket

My preggy friends both ordered Fantastic Pinay with extra vanilla ice cream and almonds, While I had the Deja Vu with extra almonds.

Photobucket
DEJA VU (P211)

Although it was good I found it too sweet and reallllly sinful.

Photobucket

Overly Sweet mangoes with cream sauce, caramel syrup, whipped cream and vanilla ice cream. Next time I'll just stick with my banana crepe DIY order. Because although it is sweet (but not as sweet as the mangoes), it is also healthy. Bananas have lots of health benefits, one of which is supplying our body with potassium.

CAFE BRETON

Trinoma Mall

TGI Friday's

My college friends and I decided to meet-up one saturday morning for brunch at Trinoma Mall.

Both friends of mine were pregnant, thus don't want to go anywhere far, hence the choice of trinoma. I also let my other friend who's on the "critical stage/first trimester" of pregnancy and also her first pregnancy to choose on where to eat.

Photobucket

I came 30minutes late because of the horrendous traffic in C3 and when I arrived they already ordered the Ballpark Nachos (P495).

Photobucket

They said that they wanted to order the spinach and cheese nachos from the mini plate but it might be too little for the 3 of us.

The nachos were served in this big oblong-shaped plate and topped with picadillo meat, salsa, pico de gallo and cheese. We found the cheese to little that we asked for extras.

Photobucket

The serving was huge that it got us full right away. We forgot that we still have our mains to eat that we finished that entire big plate serving of nachos.

When our mains arrived we just took a few spoonfuls each of our orders and didn't eat it anymore. We were too full and heady from our nachos appetizer. My preggy friend who ordered the Cajun Shrimp and Chicken Pasta , just ate two pieces of the chicken cubes. I tasted her order and found that it tasted okay. The chicken were tasty and tender, the sauce was creamy with a cajun/spicy kick. My other preggy friend ordered the Friday's Pork Adobo , and she just took a few bites of the adobo and ate one ear of the corn on the cob.

FRIDAY'S PORK ADOBO (P435)

In my case, I had the Mushroom Chicken and Mushrooms . I ate just one piece of the breaded chicken and some of the battered mushrooms. They were both just okay but definitely not worthy of its 500+ price. Not that good, even with the melted cheese sauce on top of the chicken and the mayo dip for the mushrooms. It was a total waste of money. 500+ for that allegedly must try dish.

Photobucket
MUSHROOM CHICKEN AND MUSHROOMS (P565)

I knew that I should have just ordered their tried and tested sandwiches or the chicken fingers. It was just that I wanted to try something new and relied on their recommendations.

All three of us regretted ordering mains. We should have just stopped with the nachos and moved to another restaurant for our mains. With the exception of my preggy friend who ordered the cajun pasta, all our mains orders were such failures and expensive too.

Pizza Hut Delivery

My family, all of a sudden, got hungry very late in the evening. It was close to 11PM, near the 11PM cut-off time of Pizza Hut for delivery.

We bought two family pizzas, Ultimate Cheese and Supreme Pizza and Creamy Chicken Penne (P149/single order) for me.

CREAMY CHICKEN PENNE

I didn't want to eat pizza from pizza hut since I found it overloaded with oil, especially the crust. It was also on the top of my "not to eat" list given to me by my doctor. I told them I'll just have pasta instead of pizza. But later on , while I was eating the pasta, i realized that it was as bad if not worse for my health as the pizza. That instead of oil it has lots of cream :-) anyways, I love every bite/spoonful of my penne, so I think it was all worth it. I'll just wouldn't tell my doctor about it.
